After around 2 weeks of gloomy weather, it is turning better with real signs of summer time again.

Went over to Gujan Port to meet some friends. I was there early and had some time to kill, so walk around this relatively small port for docking of oyster farm boat.

I have never walk this far to the end, and to my surprise, the jetty is a beautiful scene. Sea breezing and quietly stretching out to the open sea.

A family of 3 and a dog was enjoying the sun, sand and the breeze.

Looking back, the entry into the dock, where oyster farms are lined neatly.

Of course, not all farms are well and proper. Some are closed and deserted.

The better ones, always outdoor style, perfect for summer feast party for families and friends.

Yup, found this surprise in my letterbox before driving out.

Bottle service with a bunch of friends at 88 Club, which was without a doubt the strangest place i've ever been to, but we had a hell of a time. 3 bottles of whiskey with green tea and 5 bottles of champagne later, it was a long night.

Spent the day at Shimao Riviera Garden soaking up the sun and laying in the wave pool with a Heineken...love Shanghai.

and I figured I needed a Tele for my time over here, not necessarily for street shooting, but just travel in general, since i don't have anything above 85mm in my bag. I went to an insane camera store today and found this tucked away in a used shop on the 4th floor. No use whatsoever, and I got them down to only $550...I just can't justify shelling out almost $2000 for the Canon equivalent. but having an f/2.8 tele is sweeeeeet.

I met with Almostnice near Bamberg to visit Levi Strauss' birthplace.

The featured denim was rather disappointing, some deadstock 40s plus some worn in 30 models. The denim Jackets, especially the Type I were pretty cool, though.

My wife and I are still busy unpacking and settling in, but here are a few pictures of the new house my jeans and I are moving into. I will try to post more pictures as we get settled.

We're right on main street, here is a shot from our front yard.

We have a really long drive way, and a garage which I am really excited about.

Our backyard, there is a garden there you can sort of see. Our landlord is awesome, he and his wife planted cucumbers and tomatoes for us as well as some frowers (we need to get busy tending to them once we're settled)

In addition to the plants he's doing a ton of remodeling. He ripped up the horrible carpet and is putting down 2 inch oak flooring in our living room.

He also completely renovated the bathroom. In addition to a new shower,tile,toilet, and tub, he also put in this nice new sink and vanity.

This is my wife busy in the kitchen, you can see some cucumbers we yanked from the garden. I think she's gonna put them in a salad for our dinner

This is our dining/sun room. The blinds don't really go anymore, but they aren't permanent which is nice.

The rest of the basement is too messy for pictures right now, but this is my favorite part of maybe the entire house. Mounted to the wall is this deer antler.

I'm glad your back is on the mend, markus. I'll agree that back problems are the worst.

Well, my class ended last Friday, which was a little sad, but also a big relief. There were folks in the class who had been through every class I'd ever taught!

I had been teaching them how to ID our native conifer trees each day, so I had a 'cone-test' (get it?) to see what they learned. They passed!

Then we did a fun little activity where we pair up, and the partner leads a blindfolded person out to a tree in the forest and lets them feel it. Then, we bring them back to the start, remove the blindfold, and see if they can find it. Amazingly, everyone found their tree.

We also spent some time each day working on nature journals, which we shared on the last day.

Even though class had finished, I agreed to take some folks on a wildflower hike the next day. It was pretty much peak wildflower season up in the mountains! Lots of purple Wasatch Penstemon.

And columbine, Indian paintbrush, etc.

Here's my EDC for a day in the mountains. The only thing missing is my Motorola two-way radio with compass, altimeter, and weather radio.

Now that class is done, I just need to wrap up and then I am off work for a week or two. My daughter's school year starts in a few weeks, so I want to take her somewhere fun for a week. I'm leaning toward Great Basin National Park out in Nevada. I've heard it's stunning...
