nothing more than a philips head and hammer. there was a wax 'seal' where the downstem goes into. the glass underneath the seal was a lot thinner than the rest of the bottle. i just chistled at it for a bit with the tip of the screwdriver til i got a small indentation. then i went at it with a hammer, and punched out a perfect circle to my surprise lmao. then i just chipped away at it til i got the hole big enough to fit the downstem.
