Simple but substantial. I missed a simple zipper on a backpack. Trying to open the rucksack on my bag every time I needed something out of it was so fucking annoying. Also an all leather bag was too much for me.

I'm starting grad school soon.  I need a weekend bag/daypack.  Currently looking at these two but I need other recomendations:

 

 

George Guest Hillside - I owned this bag before but my car window was shattered and everything stolen.  It was a good bag.  Looks a bit goofy at times.  Still a killer EDC.

 

 

 

Filson Grey Wool Rucksack - Probably a little classier.  Doesn't hold quite as much but I like the simpler design.

 

 

Anything else I should look at?  My ceiling is $300.

I carry this to/from classes and it's got plenty of room for all my textbooks and even my 15" mbp. It's also waterproof so it's good for those rainy days.

 

Anyone tried the Fitzroy? I think it's similar to this, but I need something pretty huge to carry a full change of clothes and towel to and from work everyday.

 

Also, is the VX version worth the extra $100?

Yeah, I know it has the metal buckles, just wondering if that warranted the additional $100. They do look very nice!

Anyways, I didn't pick up the VX and my sanction is doing just fine.  I feel like if you're going to upgrade you might as well just get one of their more expensive bags anyways.

I know what you mean. It's an expensive bag either way, may as well go the extra mile.

 

Also, I think the VX version has a white lining which is actually a very handy feature when you're digging around in the dark for an inner tube or something...

Just managed to grab one of these Junya backpacks, namely the third colorway.

Been using new Visvim 20L for like a week now. Really liking it, though not sure I would want to spend full retail on it (got it from Y!AJ) 

 

Quality seems good and the pockets, ahhh finally. Was using TNF Purple Label for like 2 years prior to this so it's nice to have so many pockets instead of literally zero. It's kind of big as well but comfortable and will come in handy since I'm moving soon.

 

Summary: Like for below retail price; could probably get something similar for a lot cheaper.
