del toro has passion for the comics, he picks and chooses the coolest parts from the hellboy and bprd series and puts them together in a way that would work for a movie.

I got into the comics a bit after seeing the first movie, from what I've seen of Hellboy 2, he's doing that x 2 thousand million

but ya, if you're a fan of the comics you're eating out del toro's shit like the critics after pan's labyrinth.
