anyone have a well worn ed39 pics? would really appreciate it if you would post some fit pics.

Also do they shrink at all in the first wash around the waist. I had a choice between waist size 31 and 32. I decided to go for the 32 as the 31 was too tight around the waist. the second to top button was border line struggle to put on and the top button required me breathing in top button it up. That only left one option to buy 32 waist except that felt marginally loose around the waist not saggy or falling off type of loose waist, just 1cm less would have been perfect. Now the problem is it's sanforized and dont know if i can get the waist to shrink. Any Advice will be very helpful thanks .

I own other Edwin denim and on those ones like ed55 and ed 75 i fit waist size 30.

After buying waist 32 and further testing I realised I made a mistake 32w was too big for me. Took the tube back to central London today and exchanged it for 31?waist as they are suppose to fit snug and the Edwin store sales assistant told me the waist will stretch. He even told me to put the 31w on and he check how they fit and said it’s a perfect fit. I also gained a few pounds over Christmas so I am confident the new pair will fit me just fine. Now the question is do I wear raw or soak and wear one wash. I will do a few fit pic in a few months after breaking in. I finally found an Edwin with perfect back rise very similar to the back rise of Levi’s 501. From knee down it has a very slight taper almost straight leg. The leg opening is almost a cm less compared to the knee. I have worn LVC 501made in USA worn once. But will store them now as they will be more in demand soon. These nice ED 39   Will be taking over the job.

Finished the soak all dried up fit perfectly waist was snug to begin with,!but within minutes it got more comfortable. Exactly the type of fit I was looking for. Fits pretty much like the non selvedge 501 u get from any regular store there are slight differences of course. back rise is perfect as too many Edwin ED Numbers with too low of a back rise. I put it next to my regular 501 in the pic below

. Also own LVC made in the USA 1966 that one I am now storing away

Further update/review of ED-39.

After wearing a full day i have to say this is a brilliant fit. Thanks to Edwin for bringing this back. I can confidently say now they are one of my best denim in my collection. i have owned so many brands and for the price your not going to get much better than Edwin's. There is enough space in the thigh area to make it comfortable. also the front rise is very good if you like a tiny bit of space there if you know what i mean. Back rise very similar to any standard 501 maybe marginally higher.

For those that are looking for denim that has regular/classic fit (501) with a slight modern twist than this is for you.

The Edwin website does this denim fit no justice, as they have some very skinny models wearing them and maybe even wearing them a size up. Wearing it in person the fit was totally different to what it seemed to be like on the Edwin site. Good job i did a google image check. it's a classic fit straight leg very subtle taper but if you like tapered fits don't buy this go for ED-55. (back rise is slightly lower on the ED-55 fit).

I have recently started taking gym very seriously and started to get some gains on my legs. and like to use the leg press machine so again having extra room in the thighs is a plus point.

This comes in both red and rainbow selvedg. Red pairs are 14oz and the rainbow pairs are 12.8 oz

Anyone with big legs or athletic build that is looking for an everyday comfortable pair of denim look no further than the ED-39.

Edwin Japan, Concept store Type 2 EDS 001-89.  I saw this jacket the last time I was in Japan but for some reason, I didn't buy it, the Harajuku concept store now does international orders so I picked one up.  I think this is a great modern type 2.

The pleats are stitched down vertically which I have never seen before, going to start wearing this soon.

This is pretty close to the Companion Denim jacket, only big diff I see is the pockets here are lower. The Companion is a hybrid as well - pleats and double pockets like a type 2 but back and overall cut like a 3. I like mine a lot - it was the first (nice) denim jacket I got.

Stopped in to Milworks recently and found they were now carrying some Made In Japan Edwin jeans, Akita model. Both a straight cut and a taper. I ended up with a pair of the straight. Really like the overall fit, especially the top block. They are very close in fit to my favorite jeans (Iron Heart 888). My measurements are close to the posted chart (on Milworks and Brooklyn clothing sites). They are also very similar cut to my Fullcount 1108xx.

Almost forgot, the pocketbags are actually deep and usable!!  One of my pet peeves with other jeans.

Description of the denim:

We have received a selection of EDWIN's brand new "Dark Pure Indigo Rainbow Selvedge" in both Regular Taper and Straight fits, featuring dry indigo and washes weighing in at 13.5oz. Custom woven by Kaihara Mills in Japan, this denim is spun on vintage machinery, at a low speed and tension to create truly vintage selvedge denim. A mixture of American and Australian long-staple cotton are used for a softer hand, with the additional benefit of the stark white colour of these cottons allowing a deeper indigo dye to occur. The warp and weft threads are spun differently for traditional texture, with the warp featuring natural middle-pitched uneven yarns to allow 1940's/50's esque fading on the warp, while the weft incorporates shorter-pitched uneven yarns, twisted tightly for a crunchier weave.

This "Dry Indigo" is our raw offering in the afore-mentioned 13.5oz Indigo Rainbow Selvedge, sanforized to remove shrinkage. The use of long-staple cotton means these are quite comfortable during the break-in process, with a nice soft hand that will really become apparent with a bit of wear, while the shorter-staple cotton in the weft and the low-tension weaving method give the denim an inherently vintage look and feel. These are a truly bulletproof pair of quality jeans, featuring a year-round traditional denim weight, deep rope-dyed indigo with excellent aging and fading potential, authentically vintage texture and feel, finished up with masterful craftsmanship and vintage details, all packed into an absolutely killer Regular Straight fit in EDWIN's 03, a timeless and comfortable cut for all styles and individuals.

They look nice @buler! I was going to say, though, that the difference between 32 vs 34 for inseam length would have me sending it back BUT looking at their chart, it does say for the size 34, the inseam is 32. Odd. The size 36 measurements—for me—look really nice on the straight, but especially nice on the tapered version.

As a side note, I am waiting for IH to restock the 17-oz Ducks in the 888. They are the best cut for sure.

My mistake on the inseam comment. I was expecting to buy the 36 waist versions and after trying them on I went with the 34. They are clearly listed on the jeans as 34 X 32, so the measurements are fine.

Sorry about any confusion with that.

@Geeman @Maynard Friedman

Funny story. I bought the jeans while I was having my three weeks of the Flat Head 3001 World Tour jeans…

The employees in the Edwin shop was blown away when they heard about Beetle and Kiya’s Project with the jeans…

Thread doesnt exits anymore sadly, but here’s a couple of photos on Heddels

Go on then @Superstar. They look great already so I’d be interested to see what another 5 years has done to them (as long as they haven’t been hanging in a wardrobe all that time).

Here you go

i stopped repairing the knees because of constant new rips…

crotch has been reinforced with Oni secret denim, without the crotch-reinforcement they would not be in one piece by now…

i just really love this denim…

This is an update on my ed39

justv over 4.5 years worth of wear around 3-4 times per week. I have rotated this pair with other denim but it’s been my main jeans since I purchased them. They are slowly forming holes in the crotch area which is normal. I do wish I washed it more often though to get a lighter colour. Mine will defo get a crotch blowout before they turn light enough. Iv been washing them 2 times per year some years 3. They have shrank a little and the legs feel slimmer compared to when I got them. The quality of the denim is top notch (rainbow selvedge) and has high quality pocket bags Edwin’s are under rated for sure.

sorry for bad quality image i need to upgrade my phone.
