It's 100% polyurethane so it won't shrink if anything it will just start to flake and crack everywhere.

I did it once but the kid that worked there was new and nervous about it. I think if you hit up every shoe store in a mall and act slick about it (have a story about how you lost you're receipt) you might have some luck
