Oops sorry I didn't mean to sound rude. It was shot at ISO 50, 0.4" exp at F.14 with a tripod.

If anyone genuinely wants any prints I'd be happy to do it for next to nothing, drop a line.

i own a 35L and pretty much shoot exclusively with it on my 40d body it gives a near 50 mm lense with that body type so perfect for almost any kind of standard shooting.

image quality is superb... if you want to look at some sample shots with that lense. search my name under this thread and most if not all of the recent shots have been done with a 35L

ps. if you have a hassabald? whats the point of a 35L?

I have the 35L as well, its a very good lense but to be honest, 98% of the time I pick my 17-55 2.8 IS over it, its just so much more versatile. I'm able to shoot at a lower shutter speed with the IS so the difference is not huge.. but still, 1.4 is 1.4, its pretty fucking awesome.

I'm a huge fan of Portra 160VC & NC. They're a little more expensive than consumer films, but the difference is definitely noticeable.

happened to see this for relatively cheap on a local site, jumped in the car and picked it up an hour later

any thoughts on 120 film? I picked up a couple of rolls of Kodak Portra 160NC. I think they also have 400NC and one or two from Fuji available, apart from that, a bit harder to find 120 locally.

NC's great, nice skin tone. That's what I shoot normally, or Fuji superia when I'm traveling/low on cash. Fuji slide film tends to be super saturated, and if that's what you're going for then it's awesome and vibrant, but for me it's a bit overbearing.

So I am going in reverse and bought myself a 35mm film camera and want to shoot B/W. In terms of processing, can I take them to any place such as Costco or does it have to be a specific place capable of printing B/W?

^^ I'd suggest learning to develop the prints yourself. You'll have far more control over the final images and its way more satisfying.

You can get c41 process black and white (that's the stuff you can take to costco or whatever). You can also process your film yourself. I agree that it is way more satisfying, although right at this moment I am very frustrated as my darkroom is in the garage and its hot as a motherfucker in there.

It should also be noted that scanning 35mm negatives rarely produces satisfying results
