filesonic and a few others are down now too - depositfiles and oron look like the only ones to be relatively safe as all of their servers are entirely based in russia. so much porn gone.



also, most of mediafire's servers are in texas and if they are the next to be culled it will basically make every single music blog obsolete.

Is there really any point to this? Like the war on drugs, no matter how police agencies try to stop it we're all going to get our illicit fix of sweet sweet pirated downloads somehow.

As a European I can only say that as filesharers we shouldn't have tackled American markets to begin with.
American politics/legislation is a threat to liberal world politics and a huge threat to free markets.
Now American corporatism tries to infiltrate our markets and tries to shut down our servives. That mustn't be tolerated. We must take a stand against this nonsensical legislation. After the war on terror and the war on drugs, America wants to bring the war on piracy. And like the other wars this war is based purely on fear and corporate greed.
We must deny this from happening. We must oppose American authorities. Regardless where you come from, oppose this legislation and any similar legislation.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious that is the aim, but what I'm saying is that one would have to be fairly naive to believe this will be anything more than a minimally effective loss prevention strategy. This case is further proof that there's money to be had in making sure that producers of pirated content don't see those profits.

Just the napster du jour... they only really care about the lowest common denominator not being able to pirate. If they can make it slightly more difficult lots of people will say fuck it and end up spending money on the content out of sheer laziness.

ya i've noticed some others block you via your IP/location now, you can proxy around it though...if it were Mediafire i would be seriously upset, i only use others if i absolutely have to.
