Went London over the weekend, met some cool guys, small chats and enjoyable times.

Was at Vintage Showroom in Seven Dials...before walking in, his SD caught my sight and we started a small chat about White's.

At Camden, bumped into a custom leather maker. A lady from France too!

Wat a coincidence :) And naturally we talked about leathers and France.

Down town today shopping and this arrived in my friends vintage clothes / books / record shop . Pretty much the holy grail of punk rock albums . An older friend had a copy in 1977 , I was 12yrs old . I have it on cd but something nostalgic and rock'n'roll about vinyl .

it's a fine album, but the holy grail? you can pick up a first pressing for under a tenner easily enough...

Yeh , holy grail is not the right term but for me it is the seminal rock record of that era . The first UK punk album and in my humble opinin the best of the genre . Yiu can pick pretty much anything you want up on ebay but stumbling across this in a just arrived box of records was a far more enjoyable experience !!! Plus I got it for free !! .

We've been busy since we got back from Canada. My wife is a lot better than I am at getting things on camera, here are some recent snaps from her iphone :

We went to Elote restaurant, in addition to amazing puffy tacos they had luchadores LIVE and the best Horchata I've had in a while.

Our good friend has a stand at a local farmers market. His asparagus wasn't quite ready :(, but the flowers made up for it.

Thursday we drove to Bartlesville for one of the better live shows I've been to in a while:

I had only heard their recordings, hadn't really seen any video of them live. They have so much energy, and the organizers cleared out the orchestra pit and made a dance floor. Fortunately for you there was a strict no photo policy during the show or else I might break the internet with horrible pictures.

Another cool part of the trip was seeing the Price Tower. We didn't make it there in time to go inside, but It was awesome to see some Frank Lloyd Wright in person:

It's been the usual busy, busy here. I am involved in an annual charity fund-raising fair. This year, in addition to the CFO job, I also took on the role of photographer for the event. Here are a few snaps…

The silent auction room - all kinds of goodies. I donated the photo canvas just visible in the top left corner of the pic…

The bake sale was mouth-watering

All kinds of bouncy castles

And of course there had to be a "dunk" station - in this case, via water balloons!

Also managed to get out to the "Profusion" show, put on by Vistek, one of Canada's large photography retailers. Their shows are usually geared more towards the pro market, and they always have fantastic instructional sessions, as well as the latest & greatest toys

They has quite a bit of good lighting products: they missed some great sales opps by not having things set up for us to try, but I played around anyways ;)

This one below, on AIDs in Africa, was taken by Tony Hauser. I've known him for years - he took our family portraits right after our little girl was born. Amazing photog, his work is all film/B&W.

since developing an interest in vintage denim, i now spend twice as long in charity shops and on bootmarkets - previously i was only interested in the old vinyl records.

this morning, i had no joy with the denim, but hit gold with the vinyl: an 11 volume anthology of early jazz (mainly 20s, 30s & 40s) compiled by folkways in the 1950s, in mint condition with booklets etc all intact...

should give me some quality listening for the next few weeks.

a lot of great collections right up there above me. always been a fan of collecting sort of hobbies they just dont last because of the humidity level in my country. it gets difficult to maintain vinyls and books because the pages turn yellow so quickly. ended up collecting CDs instead because they were easier to maintain.

riff, those guitars are great. i cant tell if they already look great or your photography skills made them even more drool worthy. eye popping colours! good!

so today was one of the normal working weekends for me. havent been doing any WAYJDT posts, so heres one. in case anybody didnt know, i work at a clothing store on weekends for extra doe to fund my obsessions. store underwent a small revamp a couple of months back as we added more shelving for freitag bags.

R1003453.jpg

although the store's products dont really vibe with me, i have always liked the interior of the store. i also like how we change our shopping bags frequently. here are the ones this season, polka dotted bags. they look pretty damn cute on girls.

R1003456.jpg

got some generic surplus shoes as well as zkin camera bags. zkin is a brand from hong kong and the bags are real nice, placed on consignment in our store now. made of leather and suede they are a great product with nice aesthetics and functionality.

R1003457.jpg

we've got all sorts of weird decor items as well as my boss picks up a lot of old stuff from the salvation army and restores them. rocking horse has been around for mabbe 15 years? but he repainted it and touched it up a little. never fails to get the kids.

R1003454.jpg

sometimes we've got some interesting products as well. here you see, the first pair of north korean produced jeans. great idea even though construction isnt fantastic. no fancy denim or chainstitching or whatsoever and fit is somewhat of an anti-fit. totally expecting something like that from them. ha!

R1003455.jpg

and heres the story. pretty interesting concept and great persistence from the swedish guy that started it all.

R1003460.jpg

headed to the mall for dinner after work. havent been out for a while now due to work, so couldnt be more stoked for dinner!

R1003459.jpg

if theres something they say about singaporeans, we love our queues. we almost spontaneously join queues because we assume that anywhere that has queues must have some great stuff.

R1003458.jpg

my friend and i picked out a somewhat new chinese restaurant for dinner. famed for one of their treats which i will show later on.
