So if you’re from the country it’s very common that you have some „redneck “ customs.

One of these customs is, when a girl turns 25 and isn’t yet married (what’s very common nowadays) she gets a chaplet made of cigarette packets (men get a chaplet made of small liqueur bottles).

The chaplet will be hung above her entrance door and the person who’s gonna turn 25 the next have to read a saying out about the birthday girl. It’s mostly a small poem and for every punctuation mark the reader has to drink booze.

The chaplet

I had to carry the sign (don’t mind the Sombrero. I was told there was some kind of motto for the party and the other second someone put the hat on my head)

On our way to the birthday girl’s house.

It’s common to ring at all the neighbor’s houses and they have to give to booze.

Before the chaplet is hung above the entrance door the birthday girl has to walk along the chaplet and has to drink a shot with her guests for every step she makes. The chaplet was 35 m long so a pretty short one.

Impression are here:

Yeah, I kept all the pics from the hot chicks for myself...you know how I am.

Yesterday was a boring day. Just went to the supermarket to buy some bread roll dinner (of which I forgot to take a pic and after I realised it, the horde already ate it all and it looked like a hefty traffic accident)

The bag is still empty

Yesterday.

First I had to work, as usual.

After that I visited my girlfriend and we went for a little walk.

P1000294.jpg

Just in front of her house is an archery range

P1000295.jpg

Maybe I should try it out sometimes

P1000296.jpg

And on we walked

Not far away from her house will be a big fairy which takes place every year. It’s like the ‘Oktoberfest’ but a little smaller. But still around 800.000 guests every year and if you consider that the town (Vechta) where it takes place has only 30.000 habitants. Not too bad.

The fairy was first documented in 1298. So in that case we beat the ‘Oktoberfest’

It’ll start in about 19 days so they start to prepare everything. Will update that

Also next to my GF’s house are ‘her’ horses (she refers to the horses as hers because they are that close. Right next to her garden)

P1000309.jpg

Wooo…horses!

P1000310.jpg

Bribe the horses with some delicious grass

And it worked…

And again I’ll give you what you all want. An ass-shot

Later that day I went to the cinema with a ladyfriend of mine. No pics of that event.

Vechta ,the nearest biggest city (5km) and the place where “Stoppelmarkt” takes place is known by many people from far away as „jail-city”. And it’s true as here are 3 jails: one for men, one for women and one for adolescents.

But there’s a historically reason for that. The area around Vechta was pretty wet and a big swamp. Only the region to the west was passable and so the guards only had to watch there. Prisoners who broke out of jail had the choice to take the route heading west and get caught by the guards or try their luck to get through the swamp. Most didn’t make it through…

Nowadays, the area is mostly cultivated but not far away from my home is still a swamp and after work I drove to the so called “Haus im Moor”. It’s a touristic attempt to educate tourists&locals about the marsh and about cutting peat.

They built a little path through a small area of the marsh and on that path little explanations about the plants, marsh and genesis of turf are installed.

As I came to the end of the trail there were a loud buzzing&fizzling. Here’s the reason why.

At the end of the path there’s the possibility to walk inside the swamp. It should be good for your skin. I didn’t treat the Ooes with it…
