yo at worlds i played both extended AND vintage and i played top at both, shit was SO much fun hahaha. i miss that fucking deck so much. gro sounds ludicrous but with all the expensive duals it's not worth it to me.

if you're referring to SDT, yeah they banned it because it got to a point where every single control and combo deck were playing it I guess. Still seems kind of dumb to me.

he was referring to brainstorm i think. In vintage is is that good, it's basically like ancestral recall for combo, plus it does a lot of neat other tricks. To me though it defined the appropriate power level for vintage and didn't surpass it, but i guess 4 of them was too much for the DCI.

well think about it, you get to stack your deck, you see a card you need draw into it and then use a fetch land to ditch if you want, it's a control decks dream, i'd main deck in a black/blue control. then again i'm biased.

edit: fuck the dci, i loved my brainstorms in my combo decks.

yeah i mean i loved playing the decks that abused brainstorm which is why im mad. But really it seems fair because everyone can use it, and if you're not running blue you're dumb unless its ichorid.

but even in todays meta ichorid is FAR too slow to win. you'd need to be playing basic mono blue lock and counter deck. however you're correct, brainstorm was a fair ass card.

I feel like Wizards/the DCI just doesn't like having cards that are fair and good, they'd rather have a shittier cardpool so the useless shit they print is more likely to be used in someting. i was never immersed in the whole "culture" i played, i had fun, i made a couple friends but i didn't make it into a lifestyle. i would probably guess though that lan is a type two player while i'm a type one so we probably had no interaction. but yes i went to worlds for type one and legacy haha.
