Samurai Jeans

^you'd be forgiven for thinking that of some people around these parts.

at the end of the day, they are jeans! they are made for protecting your skin from the elements. you dictate their lifestyle, they shouldn't dictate yours! that shit is just lame.

well this earned me some rep that i'm reading with the intonation sarcastic as fuck.

i was just putting a view out there. some of the questions/statements i read on the denim board make me think that people are gettin their denim mixed up with their silk panties. they're workwear. wear them hard. wash them seldomly.

most of the best looking pairs of jeans around these parts have been beaten without mercy for months on end. treat your jeans like a pimp-stick to a whore's face, not a newborn infant.

This is too beautiful to be forgotten.

True to waist stacks?

OK, so I got a little penance to do for bickering in the "you know you're addicted" thread. Here's some shots of my S510XX AI-N's that I've been wearing. I dedicate this post to Selaviso; one love, group hug.

Purchased last August, 1 initial soak 0 washes. No color adjustments.

The pencil case came with the jeans, but will eventually be cannibalized for repairs. For now, it's a nice way to see how things are progressing. Someday, I'm gonna do a tab transplant, too.

Platinum threads, gold buttons, etc.

Backpockets - I started flipping my redmoon so the little metal indian doesn't bust out too quickly; I think in a couple of months this will look pretty cool, like the 2-side of a die.

Forced to size down a good deal actually due to extremely limited stock, but got to try them on at BiG and they fit good enough thigh down initially to risk it and hope they would stretch. The waist has stretched out since.

I'll snap a fit pic tomorrow in the light but no doubt they are on the slimmer side.

I can take additional pics if there's interest but not trying to spam.

are those the ones with the new arcuates? pretty sure no one here has mentioned buying a pair. keep us updated (although i don't recall there being anything new/unique about this pair aside from the details.)

fit pics are always welcome. stupid sizing questions however, are not welcome.

It's dumb to ask a sizing question about a couple year old limited edition pair of jeans whose info and measurements were scarce even when they were first released?

How should I know what lot it is? Whether or not it shrinks to, below, or above tagged size? It's a loose cut jean. I'd want to size down.

You, sir, are the stupid one.

Anyways, fit pictures are more than welcomed. :)

whoa whoa guys yeah, I wish I could have went true to size but as technicolor said, limited edition denim so I took what I could get.

To be honest, they fit me like 710s, but it's definitely a 510 cut just sized down with the waist stretched out.

As promised,

I wouldn't use these as a reference if you managed to find a pair to buy for yourself, though. I would have enjoyed going true to size if that was possible, but no such luck.

And cause I'm sure someone will ask - they're called freeline skates, and they move like this

24oz? Wow is all I can say. I never thought I would see the day.

We need a good translation. I can only read bits and pieces. My Japanese speaking friend won't be in town for a couple of days, but I'll forward him the page and see if he can type something up.

More durability and I just personally like the feel of heavier denim on my legs.

I think it's really hard to go back once you've tried 21oz to anything less than 19.

As for those 24oz, that'd be an instant purchase for me, so I hope they take their time and I can make more progress with my ai's.

The topic is 24oz jeans! This can be seen in many magazines, etc !

As can be seen in a magazine, a test of the usage of thick dyed string woven into a thick fabric to make 24oz denim is increasingly going to become a typical item.

The 21oz has stood the test of time、but why is there not a reasonable amount of dyed thread for the manufacturing process. Because it was hard to sew jeans to that extent, this is just an initial trial of dying the thread. It was sewn without any problems. However, mass production is difficult.

21oz’s thickness was 3.6 threads, however this time it was made with 2.5 to 3 threads. 14oz is generally made from 6 to 7 threads, but this thickness is unbelievable! Concerning the dyeing, it is done with dense dark100% indigo. Selvedge is mixed with a little red lame. This was asked of the weaver of the item that was woven the other day when collecting information for Daytona BROS magazine.

24hataya1.jpg

It’s somewhere between Okayama and Hiroshima in the Hiroshima prefecture. This area is very prosperous in the textile industry.

(machine noises) Roar, roar, goes the cloth being weaved into a fabric on the power loom. Within the 10 looms, with vibrations intense, this is the Samurai 24oz! Next to this it is evident that the light and thin chambray material vibrations are different! How have these sewing machines changed to do this impossible feat. It seems like the screws are going to come off the machines form all the vibrations (lol)

Nevertheless, there are frequent stoppages of the machines. Because compared to thin denim, the frequency of cutting the threads and changing of the wefts high, this time the weaver mechanic has to keep checking the machines again and again. He said that there is no such other hand crafted denim .

24hataya2.jpg

This is woven very slowly. Because it takes one whole day to weave 50m (about 20 pairs of jeans) we now know how much time is required. However, as one would expect, compared to others, a 24oz roll is very thick and heavy!

hataya3.jpg

Somehow we are doing alright and making progress!! Please stay tuned!

The feature of the next issue of Daytona BROS is this, so certainly please give it a look!

just out of curiosity, whats the opinion between samurais and iron hearts? from what ive noticed samurais tend to be a lot more detail oriented and seem to fade easier. anything else regarding both their 21oz denim?

Iron Heart denim is very basic but very soft and durable. It does not fade quickly and typically does not give high contrast fades. Samurai denim is on the whole beautiful. The 21oz variety is incredibly thick, heavy, stiff, and dark. The weft really shows through. I love my Iron Hearts, but I would take 21oz Samurai's any day of the week.

The Iron Hearts are boring in comparison. The Iron Heart denim stretches upwards of 3 inches and in my experience the 21oz Samurai denim does not stretch (easily) beyond 1-1 1/2 inches.

Will you be able to find 21oz Samurai denim? Not likely right now depending on your size. A new production of s510vx 21oz is coming up, but is that the cut you want? Iron Heart's main game is 21oz denim. You can get a pair of 21oz Iron Heart's whenever you want.

They are both bullet proof denim.

thank you very much Technicolor, samurai will without a doubt be my next denim purchase! Just stuck between the 19oz and 15oz 710s....

19oz for sure. You won't be disappointed.

The heavier the better. Although, the 15oz Texas Cotton has amazing fading properties.
