When ordering from John we started with a phone call and then I did a jacket trial. Luckily, I was pretty easy to fit, and then it just came down to choosing details.

My D1 took forever to show wear, but only wore it during winter. Keep in mind that B3 has those horsehide elbows that help age it more than the pure shearling on the D1

the jacket is pretty tight and I'm not sure if I should keep it. It's a 40 and a 42 would be a lot more comfy with any sort of layer under it.

what do you guys think?

does anyone know if a regular tailor can change the knits (in this case at the sleeves) on a a-2 jacket or do i better send them in to Aero Leather?

Aero does a great job even to the point of faithfully following the old stitch holes.

I had a duo tone B-3 from RMNZ and it was a killer B-3. It was just a bit to small and I sold it to fund something else.

It depends what you want from it erk. That is a great fit though. The 42 definitely won't look quite as good.

Never used Aero for repair (or a standard tailor), but I have used US Wings and they were very good. Will post pics when I can (they repaired a G-1 for me with knit cuffs and waistband).

Erk - I think it looks great, but you need to decide what's comfortable. I've regretted the snug fit on some cool weather jackets because I couldn't layer...

I don't know if you're still deciding where to send them, but here are pics of the job US Wings did on my G-1. Pretty nice quality overall. But, there are some odd looking spots on the inside of the knits, especially near the corners of the waistband and where the seams meet on the cuffs. Aero would most likely do better than that, but for $60 I have been very happy with it for the last 5 years. My camera blows, so sorry in advance.

I've had two G-1's sent to aeroleather to have replacement cuffs and waistbands, and the job they did was flawless.

Mind you, it's not so expensive if you live in the UK. Dont know how more expensive it will be from abroad.

Oh I know it's not even close to perfect, but for a more recent model G-1 that I didn't pay much for, it has done its job well. If you don't mind my asking, how much is the repair from Aero in the UK? I didn't even check them when I sent this out, as I was in my freshman year of undergrad and had no clue about any of this stuff.

Wow not good in my opinion either. Aero has some excellent sewers and they follow the old stitch holes and in many cases you would have to look with a magnifying glass to tell and then only slight slack in the thread might be the tell tale signs.

i checked with Amanda from aero leather; it will cost 35 pounds + 15 pounds shipping the jacket back for replacing the two sleeve knits. very nice price and since im located in Europe easier for me as well.

Wow, that ends up right around what I had paid back then anyway!! Definitely go with Aero then, and I'll be using them for my repairs in the future.

I had an M 444 (sheepskin) years ago they did work on and thats long been sold. I also had them replace mouton on a late 1960s Martin Lane 7823D but I also no longer have that either.
