really liked it (unlike the friend that gave it to me), very nihilist and violent, but i really love the main character. it's not about porno or star btw, just toyoda's first movie.

was looking for a movie that isn't too deep and kinda mainstream. the acting is really good, and it's actually a bit moving. quite liked it.

I loved Man on Wire. That was the best film I've seen in a long time. I also enjoyed The Visitor. How'd you like Slumdog Millionaire? Got a hold of a copy but haven't gotten around to watching it.

I recently watched The Wrestler, which was great.

Also, Revolutionary road, which was goodish and Seven Pounds which totally sucked.

Man on wire was good. I like the somewhat disturbing ending.

Maybe its because I watched it without any preconceived impression, but slumdog actually turned out to be one of the best films I've watched recently.

Slumdog seemed disappointing to me. The movie looked great but I thought all the acting was just okay and the plot struck me as something that white critics love to fellate because "omg it's so cultural and indian and eye opening."

I'm not Indian but the way they kept pounding the audience over the head with the class bigotry moments just annoyed me. Why would the host be that much of an asshole? The fact that Jamal even got arrested and tortured made no sense to me.

The only actor i had a problem with was malik as an adult.

I saw the host as an asshole because I think he was previously a slumdog as well, won the show and became it's host. He was afraid/jealous that Jamal would do the same. As for the arrest, there actually was a cheating on WWTBAM in the UK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Ingram, and I think when you have power within the caste system you can do what you want with the slumdogs whom I assume are the untouchables.
