charles & ray eames designed it. originally it was a herman miller chair but you can get it anywhere now... that particular one looks to be one of the original fibreglass types

They're vintage Eames fiberglass shells on Modernica replica bases.

Don't bother with the new molded plastic models that are available now, they're kind of garbage. Save up while you wait on eBay. Took me about 2-3 months to finally get both a black and greige shell, mostly rare these days. The indigo's look pretty awesome too.

The new molded plastic is garbage, it reminds me of the plastic they use on those umbra chairs.

Ok, gimme some floor lamps that can also be used to put stuff on top (say empty your pockets). Needs to be somewhat resistant and not heat up.

i've asked the same question in the australia thread but thought i'd try here as well.

anyone have experience or can comment on the quality of replica furniture from sites like lifeinteriors.com.au or milandirect.com.au? pretty sure there's just a bunch of manufacturers in china somewhere with varying degrees of quality. keen to buy some and i'm thinking for the price bracket i probably wouldn't find anything better in real stores here. knockoffs suck but the real ones are hard to come by and obviously aren't cheap. honest reviews are also rare from what i can see online.

I use google reader and then create an rss search for keywords on craigslist for used furniture.

they sell cheap repos, but cheap repos are sketchy in quality.

Vintage canadian made repos from the 70s are really good though.

haven't been on sufu forever. here's my new place. anything that isn't ikea i either built myself or restored. made the coffee table, bookshelves, that triangle crap above the bed and sofa, and restored all eames shells as well as the credenza. all that designer furniture stuff i got super cheap. built the dining table out of reclaimed floor joists from a church, the stripes are glue marks from floorboards. everything i made by hand is based off designs i could not afford normally. oh, and pictures were taken over three months so the layout differs in each. enjoy:
