what's wrong with 88, other than bey logan

i just felt like saying something specific and stupid, but tbh i don't fuck with their catalogue at all. people love horror and kung fu, though.

last thing i got was the andrzej zulawski set from eureka which is great. wanted to get pandora's box but £28 for a regular blu is pushing it.

*second run are an excellent label, in particular

Assuming my Denim Pants count as trousers: just kind of a classic straight fit with a hem somewhere between 8.25-8.75" or so. I suspect I'll just stay with this fit indefinitely.

When I discovered raw denim in late 2009, I'd been wearing Levis 510 "super skinny" jeans from Urban Outfitters for a few years and naturally went for this exact same type of fit with Nudie. It was the heyday of the hipster sprayed-on tight pants aesthetic. It took me far too long to get over this; after getting slightly more relaxed in the mid 2010s (maybe), my tight-pants era had its last gasp when I briefly became intrigued by the SLP/Hedi Slimane aesthetic circa 2017 or so. But in fall 2018 I got a pair of Flat Head 3005 straight cut jeans and never looked back.

There were two turning points for me:

  • Realizing that the whole point of skinny jeans is to make you look tall and slim; I am already very tall and slim, so I really didn't need the extra help;
  • Realizing that I much prefer the creasing/fades of a more relaxed fit of jeans.

And they're also more comfortable, which is nice I guess.

Just quickly circling back on this: pants that are way too tight for my age, mostly

Worked a bunch and now I have a “sabbatical” before my new gig starts end of month.

Took a pay cut, looking to possibly go back to school again for masters in my field or I dunno, something completely unrelated (architecture, interior, etc design).

"They play packed shows in lofts and bars full of kids born in 2004 taking pics on a point-and-shoot digital camera while wearing absolutely enormous pants."

I wasn't born in 2004, and I did not have the point and shoot digital camera, but I was part of the group wearing the big pants. This writer didn't really get it as far as scene (this band has nothing to do with dimes square, its more of a ridgewood/bushwick thing if anything but have been touring internationally...), but I do love the wide pants thing, it really is true.

someone needs to make a youtube doc or something about the "cultural impact" of this forum and maybe it can get some fresh eyes. Gen Z-ers like to romanticize the pre-socials internet and if they hopped on here and started promoting it, maybe some of the OGs will take notice.

i logged in to niketalk for the first time in forever and it looks like they're still pretty active. why not sufu? interest in fashion is seemingly at an all time high.

idk. i miss lurking.

The thing is that the Internet revolves around social media these days. People don't really want to discuss things, so much as to find a few marquis that they want to follow and emulate. I've seen a few old Internet communities I was a part of as a kid die out recently, which is a shame. Forum culture is dead, and the last vestiges of it live on Reddit.

There's no doubt that this place helped propagate things like raw denim, helped to popularise whole goth-ninja aesthetic, among many other things.
