Who: Jonathan

Where: DC (before that: Lexington KY, San Diego CA, London UK, Johannesburg ZA)

Work: automotive editor at Ars Technica. Used to work in science policy at NIH, before that I was a scientist. This latest career is a lot more enjoyable.

Why: Among other things I've always been a streetwear nerd. Used to be a denim otaku. Resisted getting into ACR for a long time but peer pressure from Kev and others at 5thD eventually got the better of me.

Hello fellow Seattleite! Best techwear city for actually utilizing the weatherproofing!

It's been so hot recently though; I'm really looking forward to F/W when I can actually use most of my gear. I really need to find more summer-friendly options.

"Vancouver"

How are them wildfires working out for you guys? ;) Although, we apparently have our own out in central WA that were started by cats + power-lines (RIP).

Got my intro to techwear some 6 or 7 years ago (I think?) with Acronym. ACRNM will always be my first love, but I've expanded my appreciation out to other techwear labels (SI:SP, GG, Veilance, ETC..). Didn't have the means to cop anything back in the early days, but eventually worked up to a place where I could allow myself the odd purchase and have been slowly building a wardrobe that suits my style. Eventually, my interest lead me here where I lurked for a while. Joined shortly after getting my first ACR piece (3A-1) some months back.

Sup.

I think this city could really go for some of that rain we get all Winter

All in all, Thank you climate change

I was originally drawn to outerwear through snowboarding gear and technologies, but have only been introduced to techninj and urban techwear styles in the past year or so. I love the aesthetic, technical, functional, and modular principles implemented in tech gear, and the DIY atmosphere around it. It has inspired me to design products that can be used in my daily life as well as applied to interests in extreme sports and music festivals.

Nice to meet you all :)

I’ve always appreciated well made, quality products in everything.

In short I came to techwear through Stone Island/CP Company (Massimo Osti) to Shadow Project then Acronym.

I appreciate the thought and time spent on designing a garment with functionality a priority. The in depth consideration/research for the placement of a pocket. The intricate details you discover when you wear a garment. A piece of clothing that has meaning, has a story appeals to me. Longevity is a must. I don’t mind spending hard earned money but I want it to last. I think to own a piece of clothing you really like has an extra special feeling.

Been reading this forum for a couple of years. I’ve learnt a lot and enjoyed the discussions, so I decided to sign up.
