So my buddy just broke up with his fiance because of denim.

2205 is a channel switcher, but is actually a pretty nice one, but it has clipping diodes in the circuit for distortion. I like amps to be really simple. I think when they get too complicated they start to sound muddy and uninteresting. Also, high gain amps aren't as dynamic or touch sensitive as non high gain amps. Like when you play lightly it's clean and when you dig in it distorts. My favorite amp (1957 fender pinceton) has just a volume and a tone, and when you crank it, it screams!

I tend to disagree. I own what can be called one of the mothers of all higain amps (matamp, original manufacturer of orange amps), and I have not in my 15 years of playing guitar heard an amp as directly responsive to the players style as that one. The major downside to this is if your pick attack is off (I.E. when im hammered) it will amplify that to about 12 and make you sound like you just started yesterday.

Edit: if you have a thing for vintage tweeds, might want to check out victoria amps. Really great vintage fender tone.

I haven't read the entire post, but I did read the initial post and I might have to call... "Bullshit!!!!"

I don't believe it. It sounds like too much of a hypothetical.

edit: I just read the rest and I am glad to see some others call this story what it is. I thought all y'all might be slippin.

Matamp is not a high gain amp. I loke those, I used to own harry Joyce and Hiwatt, which are similar sounding. Boogie, Marshall TSL, JCM 900 are high gain amps, where there are extra gain stages for producing distortion. Victorias are cool, but are almost the same price as the real deal. I'd rather pay $1600 for a real Tweed Deluxe than $1400 for a Victoria.

how can a girl rip apart 3 pairs of jeans?

if he really cared for her he would've stopped, and same goes for the girl. I'm 100% sure it wasnt so that they were perfectly happy and in love apart from this, it wouldn't have broken them up on its own.

  • 3 years later...

I don't know if I believe it or not. I see it the way demonito does. The fundamental stuff they simply need can get kind of extravagant...let alone the stuff they want, and often buy.

Until your "buddy" starts hunting down rare first editions of deviant porn, or a peerless collection of rubber fists encased in acrylic...I can sympathize with him on this one.
