Edit: 1 wash @ the 1 year mark, but I feel like a soak or another wash is in order soon.

Apologies for the dingy photos on the last update. Took a few (more representative) snaps of the freshly washed jeans outside today.

1 year, ~10 months. 3 hand washes, 2 machine washes

any updates on the next HDC competition? It'd be nice if we could get participants signing up soon and get the competition started beginning of 2013. This is just the hopes and wishes of a hopeful participant, and I do realize that there's a lot of work that goes into setting one of these up. Any updates would be nice and it seems like I'm not the only one that would like to see this become an annual thing. thanks!

I'd love it if the competition would start beginning of 2013. I've got a pair of Samurai s710xx just sitting there and waiting to get soaked and worn in.

The current competition doesn't end until the end of January, so nothing will be starting before then.

And while I'm at it, a long overdue update from me.

These two jeans (Samurai S5000VX and Iron Heart Beatle Buster 18oz Raw) have had exactly the same amount of wear and washes, with drastically different results.

First the Sams.....

Now the Iron Hearts....

The Iron Hearts take a more vintage fade pattern, and hold onto their indigo better, the Samurai have a more high contrast fade pattern, and a cool, crinkly "lightning" effect fade from the multiple washes.

I know my jeans are nowhere near the top of the tree, but I'm really enjoying seeing them evolve, as well as seeing so much beautifully worn heavy denim from all the rest of the competitors.

It's a difficult one, the Samurai fit better as I have lost a little weight since I bought the Iron Hearts, but the Iron Hearts are a great, relaxed fit now. I spend a month with each, alternately, and at the end of each month I think I prefer the pair that I am currently wearing.

On a side note, for the last week i have been wearing a pair of brand new SExIH01bk, which I picked up in a great trade. I'm considering taking them off, and putting them away for the HWDC2, as if I remember correctly we allowed a 1 month wear amnesty at the start of the comp.

+1 for 1 month wear amnesty! I bought a pair of 25oz 666 in may, worn for about a week then kept on with my sexdbxsf12's because I felt guilty haha. Although only a week of wear, not sure if the fact they were purchased in may would DQ those...

Maybe the next comp could get pack to newspaper entry photos?

Still around! Took these today with my phone, no filters, photoshop or other stuff done!

Sadly they don´t get much wear these lately… I can´t wear them to work anymore since they´re too "scabby". Although my pupils would kinda dig them, I guess - as long as I don´t tell them how often I wash my jeans :-P

Also, I have to have the crotch repaired for what feels like the tenth time. I really can´t count the holes there! And once I have them repaired, the next ones start opening… And I can´t keep anything small in the front pockes, it would fall right through.

One thing is for sure: these are the greatest jeans I ever owned! :-)
