So your chance of winning is 1/57

the cost of your jeans is 254 give or take with shipping

the prize if you win is 500

So subtract 254 from 500 and you get 246 you multiply that by 1/57 and you get 4.31 dollars

If you lose you are out 254 dollars and you multiply that by the complement so you get 56/57*254=249.54

Now subtract the loss from the gain and the expected value of the contest jeans is 4.31-249.54=-245.23

With the expected loss of 245.23 you divide that by the 730 days the contest is going on and you are paying a meager .33 cents per day to join this contest.
