Not that it helps with inseam shrink since they’re cuffed but I just started on a new pair of 0105 so can show the overall shrinkage. My experience with the inseam mirrors what @Jared_Lee said. As you can see, they become slightly slimmer with washing but not much. These are probably 10-12 washes in, not sure of settings but I think either 20-30 degrees and low spin. The newer pair just had their initial wash. Both started as raw.3 points

Continuing from the above post, A big thank you to whom ever it was that sent me these photos via lg a couple of days ago. Looking at the rest of the set of pics here it look like they have all the hallmarks of the 1942 501XX except in this case the buckle looks silver as opposed to the black one we'd normally expect or it could be the lighting putting a shine on it? Also this pair has alot of dual orange and yellow stitching, unlike Larry's deadstock pair on the previous page which in King of Vintage Vol.4 has mostly yellow. Rounded hidden rivets post-1940 and copper coated fly button backs, which l've not seen before on a pair of 1941 or 1942 501's.3 points

& the back pocket, patched + lined with some old plain weave raw hemp (also added backing to the main leg panel where it was starting to wear through) Forgot to take a final photo from the outside…stay tuned for when the rest is done, I guess3 points

Leg of @shredwin_206’s S601xx Patch is leftover from a roll end I bought a long time ago @ the local discount fabric place, feels identical to the standard rigid Wrangler denim3 points

Careful with going smaller with jackets esp if you have broad shoulders/chest - this is the place you can’t really be flexible with sizing. Length shrinkage tends to stay shrunk. Sleeves tend to come in even a bit shorter once creases set it. In my experience WH denim - even one wash - tends to shrink up a bit over multiple washes, even cold ones. I’ve got a couple of lined jackets (not WH) - I haven’t sized differently because of the lining - and any lining shrinkage has been in line with the denim and not affected anything.2 points

Also not today but over the last week & weekend: Since the temperatures rose a bit in germany the citrus project on the balcony is growing along. Seen here are: 1 x trifoliate orange 1 x citrumelo (hybrid of trifoliate orange & grapefruit) lots of yuzus (the small ones are seed grown), the big one I got last winter at half its size right now 2 x volkamer lemons 1 ichang orange and maybe in the background a sanguinello blood orange Also visible an olive we got a few years ago bearing fruit nowadays The other pictures are from the weekend, foraging for berries and mushrooms in the black forest. Friends of ours moved there recently and we visited over the weekend. Since it's been crazy rainy and wet, but not really cold chanterelle mushrooms have been growing pretty early in the season. Usually they are ripe in august/september, rather than beginning of july.2 points

Looked through this thread but couldn't find them, l had a whole set of pics of this pair so l must've posted them on denimbro back in the day. Sadly now l've only this pic stolen from lg to show you. Deadstock 1942 501XX sz 36x36 (click the image twice for more clarity) sold by Foremost some years back. Lovely two tone stitching. Hard to believe this pair and the WW2 pair l posted earlier could be produced just a few months apart, yet in some ways they are both world's apart in detail and design.2 points

You may have someone who is a measured 34” waist who wears size 32” jeans (which start out at 34”, shrink to 32” and stretch back to 34” if required) and therefore considers themself as a ‘true’ 32!1 point

Not today but recent trip to Johannesburg... A few pics of the Anglo American (think gold, diamonds, precious metals, De Beers) buildings in Main Street, Johannesburg centre of the old CBD... now minor part last century corporate colonial splendour, major part modern run down inner city depravation. The Stampede or The Impala Fountain by Herman Wald, in bronze, stands out... "The Stampede was my first impression in this country, nature’s most graceful charge that competes with any man-made efforts, unconditionally acclaimed by child or adult, by amateur or connoisseur, unbound by time, fashion or ‘isms’." Fascinating country that gets more fascinating over time as stories unfold And the Jo'burg winter sky never disappoints...1 point

Our situation was admittedly not the ideal, though I’ve learned it was not so atypical either. It was covid lockdown and we couldn’t get outside help. We lived in loft studio apartment with no separate rooms. Our kid had some reflux issues that prevented him from sleeping well until about 4 months old. I had to teach online in that same apartment and my partner got a whopping 6 weeks of leave after an emergency C section, having to go back to work in person every day. Everything was super chill. It didn’t give me any grey hairs.1 point
