Not that it helps with inseam shrink since they’re cuffed but I just started on a new pair of 0105 so can show the overall shrinkage. My experience with the inseam mirrors what @Jared_Lee said. As you can see, they become slightly slimmer with washing but not much. These are probably 10-12 washes in, not sure of settings but I think either 20-30 degrees and low spin. The newer pair just had their initial wash. Both started as raw.8 points

It gets even more complicated when you consider that most people don't wear their jeans on their actual waist anymore, but on their hips. So a 31-32 size on a pair of jeans, even if it actually measures 31-32", really corresponds with where they sit on my hips, my actual waist being a bit smaller. Anyway, different topic, I've found the way I wear my jeans has changed in recent times. I've been wearing them uncuffed for a few reasons: I no longer care about showing off selvedge; it has a bit of a cleaner/less noisy/costume-y appearance; and maybe most of all, no more cleaning out dirty cuffs or expensive darning repairs on blown-out cuff lines. Although I still wash my jeans on what most would consider an infrequent basis and like to have some good contrast fading, I'm giving a lot more thought to overall longevity. I'm keeping my keys, wallet, phone in a Porter Yoshida shoulder bag of the sort you see guys wearing all the time in Japan, which means no annoying phone pocket fade, cleaner overall appearance, and avoiding pocket repairs caused by wallets. I started to feel like my appearance had gotten really complicated with the accessories, and I'm enjoying this simplified look of just jeans + belt at the visual center of my outfits. It's a bit more of a down-to-earth, low key look, which I suppose also suits me getting older and leaning into dadhood and all that.4 points

I think, it depends on how you want to wear it. As you have probably seen for example for size 44-48 the back length and sleeve length is the same. I used to wear 42 in jackets, which - as I gained a bit of weight- is a rather tight fit now. 44 would probably be standard. But I got this one in 48 for a more comfy, little oversized fit. I was a bit worried, that with a warm wash the wool lining might shrink more than the denim, so I washed cold. But I also saw, when I got the jacket that the lining is quite loose, so even with a warm wash (possibly hot wash) it should not get too tight.1 point

Cheers dude that's great to see - the top washed pair pretty much look how my ideal jeans look so that bodes well. 👀 are they the Canal loafers too? Look super nice with the jeans! I seem to have landed well with my normal aim of starting with a small cuff and moving to no cuff over the course of 6 months or so!1 point

^ If they are Russells, they’re either custom or from a while ago. I don’t think any of their recent stock chukkas have shipped with soft leather soles.1 point

I've seen people give sizing recommendations as "true to size" plenty of times and also never quite get what they mean. I've always been a detailed size chart person and pay little to no attention to the tag though, which is part of the reason why the "true to size" claim is confusing to me. I have a tagged size 31 Warehouse 1001xx, a tagged size 32 Sugar Cane 1947, and a tagged size 33 Shins-era Denime that all fit my 31.5" natural waist similarly. Using different logic, I can contort my mind into believing that any of those are true-to-size. The other thing that makes the tagged size being "true-to-size" confusing and not very useful in my own mind is that this classification does not account for different rises. A 9.5" rise pair would probably need a larger waist measurement than a 13" rise pair, so they would either have the same tagged size and fit across the waistband identically and be "true-to-size" to one person despite measuring differently, or they would have different tagged sizes that match their different measurements and be "true-to-size" to a different person because the tagged size matches the actual measurements.1 point

Here are a few pics of the 1943 jeans (size 34), received yesterday. As I mentioned to b_F, I feel pretty young and trim for an old dude, but look old and fat -- and, of course, the camera doesn't lie. I also have the jeans hiked up a bit, as I just put them on for the photo. I suspect they'll come in a little with a wash and I hope to come in a little too (i.e., lose a few pounds).1 point

^ not from a social standpoint, though the UK is a mess there too. I read that Le Pen is winning an alarming share of the vote for the party previously called the National Front... basically racists... sad days... hopefully the right way prevails Anyway best get back to denim eh!!!1 point

Alas the Ooe type 2 did not work out The measurements on the actual jacket were significantly less those quoted by the seller - hence it doesn't fit me. Yahoo seller said shoulder 53.5 cm - it's 4cm less. And chest is 2cm less than quoted. Annoying but you pay your money and take your chances. Lovely jacket though!!! And it is now up for grabs. I'll post it on the sales thread and it's up on Grailed - however do DM me to discuss costs!! There is a write up on it here Actual sizing (it looks like it's been washed already, tagged as 44) Pit to Pit - 59.5cm Shoulders to seams - 49.5cm Arm outside - 59.5cm Length 58.6cm1 point

My first thoughts too. They had a chance to drop a reworked First Edition Kit or just a 1:1 version made from modern materials, with posters from Rudnick, maybe some VA album on USB from Raster Noton etc. The J100-WS is ugly as hell though and definitely not worthy of the J100 title.1 point
