  5. Some photos of my 1970 WH 1101 BigE after a 40 degree wash. W33. The cut is really good, the fabric too, superb texture. I have a question about the fabric, I read that the fabric used for these jeans was newly developed for this model. Does anyone know if the fabric used by Levis for the 501 BigE in the early 70s is very close to that used by WH on this model? I would be curious to get an opinion from someone who has been able to compare the two.

  7. And a photo with my 714. Yes, this 714 is really cool. @beautiful_FrEaK For the length fortunately I had seen your post, which showed that it could shrink by about half an inch, I was hesitant with the length 32, that would have been too much short 😅 He still lost 3 cm but it’s okay.

  8. I washed my Resolute 714 for the first time after wearing it for 60 days 😅 Resolute 714 W33 L34: One wash / worn 60 days / 1st wash at 40 degrees Waist: 40.5cm/43cm/40.5cm Front rise: 29 cm / 29.5 cm / 28.75 cm Back rise: 38 cm / 38.5 cm / 37.75 cm Thigh (top): 32 cm / 33 cm / 32 cm Inseam: 81 cm / 81 cm / 78 cm Leg opening: 21.5 cm / 21.5 cm / 21.5 cm It's interesting to see that the measurements haven't changed much except the length, the inseam shrunk by 3 cm between the new jeans (one wash) and the first machine wash. I'm really happy with these jeans, the fit is wonderful, and I think the wash has a lot of potential.

  12. Dont think we have a vintage thread ?? I know there is a vintage denim thread but I thought this could be more general thread to post your vintage collection I'm sure you've all seen the most of my stuff before and it's almost all denim but best to start the thread with a few pics So a list of the stuff 55-58 503zxx 54-56 503zxx 63-66 503zxx 70 - 71 302 Lee toddler jeans from late 60's early 70's Lee ( Leesure wear by lee ) cinch back trousers , think there are early 60's ?? Earliest mention of leesure I can find is from 1962 40's army/navy barracks bag ( pretty sure 40's anyway ) 60's / 70's store brand kids trainers

  13. @Cold Summer I just checked yours out and I'm sold. I did grab a pair of the DSB from Bears when they were available this weekend. Definitely going to need the banner denim but I've learned from ya'll on SF, when that DSB denim is available, you grab it. It's wild that I can get two pairs of Resolute for what I've paid for one pair of IH.

  14. Got some 714s from the Bears fitting. These are signed and I got some stickers and a mug but maybe these are too short. They're settling a bit but I'm worried that even at one factory wash they will be less than perfect with cold washes and hang dries. 29x30. Actual length is 28.5". I'm a 30" inseam.I do tend to cuff this high, so I'm not sure. Opinions?

  15. @yung_flynn Good observations. Those "relaxed tapered" cuts are really made for big guys who want a proportionally smaller hem. If you wear a size 34-36 waist there's a good argument for jeans like that, which will give you maybe 8-8.5" hems while a straight leg fit is around 10" and extremely wide. But in my size those tapered fits are usually something like 6.75" with a 12.5" or larger thigh and look completely ridiculous. I can see why a guy would need more room than me in the top block, but not why they'd want such a tiny hem. To me these jeans seem like they negatively emphasize one's midsection, especially in the smaller sizes where you don't need all that taper. All this raises what is, to me, an obvious question: why don't jean makers offer at least some models by hem size? For instance, a "22 cm" pair that's a pretty classic 8.5" hem, and as the waist size goes up, the top block and thigh get roomier, and taper proportionally increases while the hem stays about the same. Even better if the rise is also pretty consistent (let's say, 11.5-12" or so in the front), and only when you go down to size 29 or smaller does it scale down a bit.

  16. @yung_flynn There's barely any wear on the crotch, since I have slim thighs there's very little pressure put on them. The only pairs where I had any substantial crotch fraying were very tight-fitting slim tapered jeans of the sort I no longer wear, like the 3Sixteen ST-120x and RH15. Maybe also my Full Count 1108, which is at about 13 months of rear wear, and has quite a slim top thigh. Anyway, on my 1001xx, the knees and rear end will wear out and require darning long, long before the crotch will, on my straight fit jeans. I suspect my 1001s will need knee/butt repairs within three months of additional wear or less.

  17. @super-thermite I also posted my 1001xx in Banner denim in the Evolution Of Jeans thread recently, at nine months of wear and several washes. Incredible denim, one of the best I've worn, and extremely comfortable and well suited to warm weather wear, which is a bonus since I live in a place that's hot much of the year.

  19. Rodeo Bros also sells the Sugar Cane jacket. They are mostly sold out too. I've purchased many times from Rodeo Bros & Klaxon in the past, when Rakuten was active. Both are great stores.

  24. So, now after 2 weeks of wear I have to say I really love the SC1946 model. The fit is just right for me and the denim is awesome . The right texture and irregularities for my taste without feeling over-engineered. First it felt/looked very similar to the 1947 denim but through wearing the denim evolved a bit. I have ordered the 1943 as well but they have to wait. Still, the 42k price tag is steep and I would have preferred 32k But seeing how quickly they all sold, SugarCane did the right thing

  25. Hello, I noticed one thing on my WH 1101 BigE 1970, on the belt strip the bottom seam is almost invisible. Is this a historical detail about the 501 70s? Has anyone noticed this on theirs? 🤔

  27. After about 10 years on the heavy stuff I’ve started to dabble in the lighter side. That’s lead me to repros. With the Yen on sale, I’ve been snapping up some likely silhouettes from Full Count, OA, and now with the Warehouse 1101 Big E. I’ll probably add my other pairs to their proper thread but these actually inspired me to finally post something. I found out about these right here. I’m shocked by how much I like them. They may be my favorite jeans of all time. The fading potential is incredible and they fold so nicely. Does anyone know if this is their regular denim with a different dye, or is this something completely different? I may try another pair of 1101 if their banner denim is different. I like the fit a lot. They’re very comfortable for me. These are a size 30. I’ve hot washed them 3x, inside out in a regular washer, and I dried them partially in the dryer. Twice when they got here, and again after I spent a couple days skiing in them. I forgot my base layer. Wore them under my bibs with no issues. They are that comfortable. Shoes are new Moto shells. Took a risk on a size 3 and they fit my size 11 feet perfectly. Prewash pictures at the end.
