  7. Picked this up on Yahoo for my partner and I’m mega jealous No idea when it’s from; I don’t recognize the buttons from any of my M-series Lee’pro jeans. Thoughts / references? I don’t recognize the denim itself, either, but that’s no surprise. The liner feels like cotton / poly (oh well), and it’s done proper, built as it’s own almost-jacket and just connected to the denim at the waist, collar, front plackets, cuffs—no shared seams on the body or sleeves

  10. Solid black Buffalos. I’ve had these since 2016 but wore them sparingly as I kept them for slightly smarter wear. More recently I’ve started wearing them regularly to the point where they need a crotch repair. They’re a bit darker and less grey in real life than my iPhone photos show. You can also see how Ande’s lockstitch hemming technique enables strong roping.

  11. Aaaaannnndddd they're done. Still gotta wash them to get rid of anything from the mill, but they're done. The waistband went much easier this time around. Decided to baste it in place and that made a world of difference (last two pics). I had far less problems getting the needle to grab the inside edge. Went with tucked loops again. Also pleased with how easily my zig zag machine did bartacks on the loops. I think this Janome might run smoother than my 201. He also wanted 7 loops instead of the standard 5 because he likes how it keeps his belt in place better. I'll update with fit pics in a couple weeks after his birthday. Things went really well on this pair though. I wasn't able to use my compensating foot because I realized the needle bar nicks it slightly and I don't want to mess anything up on my Singer. So I had to do most of the topstitching by lining the edge up with the presser foot toe. It was a good lesson in sewing straight and patience, but I think it made me a better sewist because of it.

  13. Another update, sorry for double posting today. Got the fly pieces attached, did the crotch seam, and did the first pass on the inseam. I have to wait to serge and topstitch the inseam because I want to baste the outseam and have him try them on first. That way I can let out some seam allowance if I need to before actually finishing the inseam. This denim is really trying the limits of my 201-2. I had some troublesome spots on the last pair but nothing as difficult as some of these seams have been. Maybe this is a sign to start shopping for an industrial machine lol. I'm happy with how quick these have come along. It's cool to know that barring fit checks I can definitely knock a pair out in a weekend. If it weren't for other plans and wanting to triple check the fit of these thighs then I'd be wrapping up tonight instead of leaving it where its at right now.

  19. Been a couple days since I've had a busy week. Last night I serged and topstitched the inseam and sewed the outseams as well. My brother wanted purple topstitching down the inseam, but I got in a groove last night and used yellow. Didn't catch my mistake till after I got the outseams and the topstitching on the hips, so I had a lot of backtracking to do. I was afraid things would end up sloppy but everything stitched up nicely imo.

  20. Progress from the last couple days. Yokes are attached, backs are sewn, and rear pockets are attached. Front pockets are done too. I've had this gingham canvas for ages and I'm glad it's getting put to use now. My brother's name is Evan, so he wanted a lowercase e on the back pockets. He also wanted a purple tab (and purple serging and inseam topstitching to match later). Added a closeup of the bartacks which came out better than I expected.

  21. 400T. 5 months of wear, 2 washes, first wash wasn't until after 3 months and felt necessary after 2 weeks of daily wear travelling throughout SE Asia. These get 3-4 days of wear per week at least, and were the only pair of jeans I wore from mid-January until maybe a month ago. Other than my Warehouse 800xx, these are the quickest fading pair I've worn, and the surprising amount of vertical fading is a nice addition. Excited to see how they'll look after I hit the 1-year mark.

  23. Bootleggers 213 from about 20 years ago - you all know it’s rare as hen’s teeth and it’s actually the only one I’ve ever seen. Size 40 The leather patch is gone, and the fading is heavier in some areas but there’s a ton of life in it yet - the denim is in great condition, it’s not getting thin or frayed in any area Happy to listen to any fair offer

  26. Just got the '42s, glad Speedway didn't hammer down the rivets, they're nice and perky, just the way I like 'em. Gonna throw some fit pics up after I give them another wash and dry, feel like they still have some shrinkage left in them.

  32. In case this is helpful to anyone else who needs long sleeves, I asked Ryo about the No. 2 blouse sleeve sizing because the size charts made the sleeves seem significantly shorter than other TCB models. He replied that the sleeves indeed measure 3 cm shorter than his 20s jacket in the same size, but that the sleeve essentially hits at the same place because of the shoulder and armhole construction. As for the jeans, I've actually come around to them and expect to grab a pair (probably with belt loops for function's sake) before orders close this week unless I have a last minute change of heart. I have no illusions of winning the competition and they probably won't truly be worn everyday because they are so niche, so the 18 month cycle helps. Hard to turn down curiosity for the details of this pair and I get the feeling that they will fit me pretty well. (Seeing the updated fit from TCB Instagram in a true-to-size pair helped too). More on the fence with regards to the jacket since I just got a Type 2 and don't necessarily need it, but it might help tie the jeans more into my existing wardrobe

  34. I think it’s one of the best denims out there, very smooth and built to last, it would be great for a competition. I really enjoyed my pair although I wish the SD-101s had a slightly higher rise (back and front).

  35. I've been playing around with my macro lens to shoot close-ups of my son, so I thought that it would be fun to take some macro shots of my DD-1001xx 1947 out of the wash. I got these minimally worn secondhand last September. The color is really beautiful in the sunlight, although the crotch has seen better days after a couple quick repairs. Originally, I was a bit lukewarm on the pre-distressed leather patch and buttons, but they look pretty nice and fit in much better now with significant wear. Back pocket, front pocket, and belt loop shots feel closest to color in true life. \

  50. Here is the 232 post wash and dry. Fabric is still very stiff and relatively smooth with a small amount of coarseness by hand. Color has a grey cast. Size is 42. Pit-to-pit: 21.8" (5% shrinkage) Shoulders: 19" (12% shrinkage) Sleeve (shoulder seam to cuff): 25.25" (7% shrinkage) Length (back collar to hem): 24.2" (8% shrinkage) Sleeve length here makes me question whether I could make the TCB No.2 jacket work with 1.5-2" shorter half shoulder + sleeve length
