post fishtail parka pics!!

fuckin love fishtail parkas..

i'm on an eternal quest to find a slim m51 vintage/repro parka

but, vintage/repro = not slim

or the slim ones are 'military inspired' with wierd details

ecwcs parkas too :o

the navy is so dope, but alpha always has some wierd logo stamped on the chest which i hate

never really seen in navy before..

milspex needs to get in this thread

a slim repro m51 fishtail does NOT exist... yet :(.... hell not even an m65.

i got a size S and it fits how it should. VERY spacious. designed for full gear underneath + field jacket + helmet. but i love it

is alpha a legit military provider? i never really liked their renditions of things...

pics to come.

re: m51's they're generally the same shape as the m65 but they have that awful heavy wool liner.. i guess if that's your thing.

Two things I wanted to post in this thread that I can't find. WJK fishtail parka, and rick ma-1. I also fancy me a slick n2-b. Always on the lookout for the rick one, if I ever have cash maybe I'll get it.

uh, there was a picture posted of a rick owens ma-1 in a thread I can no longer find. I looked in his recent collections, but I don't see it.

that ma-1 looks particaruly good there but i saw an earlier seasons model in store and the fit didnt strike me as that good (too puffy) and the details were too boring (its just a regular fit item basically)

that being said id gladly take one on heavy markdown

to anyone considering a rothco ma-1: don't. unless you shell out another 30 to tailor it, it's shite.

most surplus stores stock the rothco ones because they're cheaper, but if you can find legit surplus, so much better.

I wanted it pretty badly, problem is, I've always had trouble fitting well in rick, and the price is just too high. Going to be pretty happy with my TOJ one when it comes though.

yes they are but be aware they're like 5 manufacturers in one:

1. actual mil-spec gear contracted by and sold to the military

2. replicas of (1) that are manufactured for sale to civilians

3. reproductions of past milspec designs for civilian use

4. random in-house "military inspired" fashion line

5. contracted work from fashion labels like supreme and stussy

it is not uncommon for military suppliers to do #2, however some will cut corners. alpha claims they do #2 to the same spec as #1 which i can't directly verify but if you care about fabric type, snaps and zipper quality they are generally well put together.

granted their 1-4 tend to be fuller cut since their primary audience doesn't overlap, say, with TOJ

i have probably only seen their #4 stuff then. none of the alpha things i've handled are mil-spec

i have a desert camo gen i ecwcs... great piece but i don't think you'd be crazy about the fit...

btw not sure if you checked out the flight jacket thread (which is bizarrely in superdenim) but that's where this kind of stuff generally ends up
