These are my new PBJ X-012 - hemmed by Junior at Rivet & Hide in 10 mins while I waited. FYI the colour difference is due to the Jeans being fresh out of the bath after a soak. Well pleased with both the service & results.

 

Yes, I did keep the scraps. No, I don't know why...

The scraps can come in handy if you need to patch a hole in the future!  Or you can sandpaper them to see how the denim fades.

All my hems, shortened by Cary at Department of Works, have worn in beautifully with exemplary roping. If you're going to pay to get your jeans shortened, it seems pointless to me to have a flat hem. it's really worth getting it done on a Union Special.

There is a new store in Munich (Germany) "Statement" that also does chainstitch. It's free for instore purchases and they will charge 20€ when you bring your own denim.

IMO it is a pretty narrow chainstitch. Narrower than some else I have seen. But as you can see the stitching is not entirely straight

Thats how Inoue did my TCB contest jeans.  Tight hem, serious roping from the get-go.

If Naoki will do them for free then it's worth giving him a shot. If you don't like them then take them elsewhere for £20 and have them redone. Nothing to lose by that reckoning H.
