sonofa.... OK, now I am really jealous! :) BTW, I just noticed that the coin pocket on the Efelts matches the back pocket. Very cool.

I love the duck waist lining. That denim also looks really nice. I would love to see some pics of worn in black smiths. I saw plenty of nice ones at the book release party, but never could snap a pic of them.

RNR, what's your opinion on the Lofgren vest. I was thinking about pickin' one up. With regard to size, I wear a 38 - do you say their sizing would put me at a S?

Thanks!

I believe the vests come in regular chest sizes. I am about a 39 to 40in measured chest and I have the size 38 in the two vests that I own. Maybe you should go for a 36. Maybe email john and see what he has to say. He is usually pretty good with sizing.

Right on, Matty - Thanks! What's your take on the vest?

Thanks RNR - the vest looks great...esp with the RS jeans, but what about the quality, etc? You have both colors?

Do you guys recommend it?

I'm trying to change my buying habits from quantity to quality, so I'm trying to figure out if i should get this or the duck/blue RS vests.

Thanks guys!!

I'm pretty sure they both use the same standard denim that RS typically uses on all of their cuts. I have seen both cuts also offered in organic denim in the past year, but all of those are gone now.

Ya for the most part they all use the same denim and they make small runs with something different, like that organic selvedge or a japanese denim.

I just checked out the Miner's Pants on the Orvis site. When I see the wear/fading in the photo and read that "these men's remarkable work pants are subjected to a heavy vintage wash for a thoroughly broken-in look and feel" I get the impression that they are pre-distressed. Anybody know what's up with these?

They are predistressed. I think you can get them raw through their store.

I saw that on their site as well... lovely. I don't think they are an exact type 2 replica. I believe they have a curved bottom front pockets (similar to the blacksmith backpockets) and they have a cinch as well.
