My parents pay for my room & board, food, school, ect. but not clothes. I babysit through the year making about 1500 dollars from that overall and then i have a summer job where i make about the same amount. Parents buy me clothes for christmas and birthdays, ect, but I have to pay for anything else. Not really a problem though.

Im In Valley Stream, first town out on the island bordering Queens, and I'm damn proud of it Even though the girls in V.S. seem to hold a reputation of being slutty.. im still damn proud! Oh man, I love Chicken adobo so much. My girlfriend is Filipino (coincidentally her mom is a nurse ) and her parents love to cook for me. Some of my favs are lumpia (obviously), crispy pata, palabok, adobo, mechado, and for desert, halo halo Her mom also makes amazing beef steak; thinking about it makes me hungry. I'm learning how to make adobo myself to, and her dad already taught me a great way of making shrimp fried rice (lots of garlic).

I was gonna say I'm self-sufficient, and that I work to pay for my clothes, but that's an oversimplification. I'm lucky enough to have had relatives that paid for my college tuition. I think that living on my own and paying my own bills has given me a serious appreciation for how much loot college costs, especially a private school. Also, my parents bought me my car when I graduated, so that also gives me a considerable amount of financial freedom.

But with that said I think I'm still careful about how I spend my money. I work my ass off at a full time job, clock overtime skrilla, and make a decent salary. I keep careful track of all my accounts, pay off my credit card in full every month, max out my Roth IRA, etc. And I'd like to think that it's the way I manage money that allows me to have some left over for clothes. But I also recognize that I wouldn't be able to do that had I not received some help in the beginning. Needless to say I want to be wealthy and financially independent in the very near future, but I think that if I continue to do what I'm doing now I'll get there sooner rather than later.
