i think the challenge would be to find someone who ISN'T listening to clap your hands say yeah (or hasn't in the last 7-8 months). pitchfork hype! ;)

i think there's pitchfork hype... i mean too too many people only take their music advice from there.

but i think they're honestly a good band. they just happen to be the darlings on the indie world right now.

mmm deerhoof. i'm planning to see Crime in Choir when i go back to SF for spring break. makes me happy.

you sound like one of those jaded indie kids who is pissed off pitchfork is exposing indie music to the masses.

i bet you had clap your hands on vinyl before anyone had even heard of them. lol

i just find it amusing that pitchfork gave it (cyhsy) a stellar review, when insound was basically the only place you could buy the from (other than the band's site)...and beside all their reviews is a nice little "buy it now from insound" button.

but they are a bit of a hype machine. has anyone heard that shoegaze is the new garage??? ;) harhar.

trust me...i've been buying music (and probably into what you'd consider "indie") for longer than you've been buying your dunk sb's. so maybe i am a bit jaded???

shoegaze is the new shoegaze. people who rip that shit off always turn out like crap. look at those dumb ny bands...aesobi whatever, and that lame swedish band....same thing....delays do it nicely though. good beats.

adidas sample stuff on the bay now.

DAMN YOU PEOPLE STOP WATCHING AND BID!

the allusion to vinyl is a joke aimed at those of you who are all holier than thou about music appreciation.

ie.

normal listener - have you heard that new song "insert recently released single".

indie kid - that old one, i heard that like two years ago on acetate in a members only record basement in "insert hip district of your particular town". I'm actually into this experimental glitch acid emo house polka dancehall shit that aphex twin's twin brother is doing with the bassist from devo, it is produced by the guy who was going to play drums for the brianjones town massacre until he flipped out on acid ...

normal listener - cool (this guy is a wanker)

Well excuse me! Excuse me...

yeah, i get it...no worries.

seriously, though. the clap your hands say yeah album is good, but probably not as good as pitchfork made it out to be. and that association with insound just annoys me a bit as well.

they did the same thing with the "love is all" cd...insound were the first to stock it, and pitchfork went crazy for it. surprise.

although i guess they DO have the "buy it now from insound" beside albums they trash as well...

Morr: Blue skied and Clear.

This compilation have been out for some years now but I just recently downloaded. Morr artists cover slowdive songs. I like it much.

Vileneuve: First Date

I think the french have always make stylish electro pop. This is duo is really good. I think the members have worked with m83 on a few compilations.

B0002FQBAQ.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Listen here: http://www.villeneuve-music.com/music.html Track 2 and 3 is a must.

Current Listening Pleasure:

1. Villeneuve: First Date

2. Morr music: Blue Skied an Clear. Slowdive covers

3. New Order: Singles

Enslaved is the best fucking black metal I've ever heard and I don't like black metal at all. God DAMN. This shit slays.

Also been listening to a lot of James Blackshaw... beautiful avant-garde guitar from UK, similar to John Fahey, etc.
