I had K'nex. My whole room was basically an amusement park with rides that actually worked. I created my own drive trains by taking out motors from RC cars and modifying the K'nex with rubbers, glue, and whatever else. Boy was I happy when they finally made the electric ones. I was like 15, so at that time I was over it, but its good to know some kid was going to have a fun.

K'nex is so next level;

The gripe I have with today's Lego is the faux-cyber-ninja vibe and the fact that, from what I can tell, the sets come with a lot more specialised/preformed pieces. When I was a kid there were a few pieces that were made for some special purpose in the kit, like the bows of boats/planes/shaceships (do planes and spaceships have bows?), but they were generally kept to a minimum. With this explosion of preformed pieces Lego is becoming more like Duplo.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this was just my observation from seeing a few of the newer kits in the hands of various kids/on the shelves.

Edit: That said, looking at the additional pictures, that set does seem pretty cool. Damn, I wish it was still socially acceptable for me to play with Lego.

Edit 2: I just realised planes and spaceships have noses; I'm an idiot.

Pretty excited for this...

Crystal Castles + Health in Van on wednesday.

I got tickets for the NY show (Crystal Castles, Team Robespierre, Health) on the 26th. Let me know how the show goes, I've heard great things.

lego was the shit! Playmobile was pretty cool to :P! But still, lego rocks!

Like someone said, it was really fun to destroy it to!

When you've been building for like 4-5 hours, and it only took some seconds to destroy it, that was a awesome!

That particular set is from 1998 (called "Insectoids"). It's right about when Lego started going to shit, putting Slizer (and later Bionicle) over actual Lego sets.

Space circa 1993-1995 was the best shit ever. Actually I'm looking at pictures of even older Space right now and it's great. All-red Minifigs are where Raf is biting his style from.
