I agree with your decision not to soak them :P

Yeah, definitely. Just went for a bike ride and my legs were giving out because of the tightness in the thighs...

I'm honestly debating if I should keep trying to wear these or if I should pass them on to someone else who can give them the proper wear. Input please.

I suggest soaking the 3001 as soon as you can.

These jeans not only shrink more than any other jeans we carry, but they also fade faster than any of the jeans we carry.

With the fit I don't think there's any way I could do a full soak and dry without them shrinking too much to wear. The only idea I've thought of is to sit in the tub with them on so they get a good soak then wear them around until they dry. Which could be a big pain in the ass.

They do look tight around the thighs.. Better not do a soak then.

Entirely up to you if you wanna pass them on. Maybe can give it a week or so more but if it's to the point of being painful to wear, might as well not do it. What do the rest of you guys think?

Throwing them on when they're wet should stretch them out pretty quickly as well, so it may not be necessary to actually sit in the tub with them.

I'm with PG2G on that one. If you can think of something that wouldn't be terribly annoying, go with the wet-stretch technique (which sounds vaguely dirty). Plus based on that second picture you put up of the fit, you've got really big thighs, which I believe you mentioned-still, it's not helping. Give it a few days though, I've yet to see the pair of jeans that doesn't eventually stretch to comfort, for the most part.

Yeah i would probably stay away from soaking them just for now, the last time i had 3001s they fit so tight in the waist and hip it just killed, so I've recently sized up 1 to a 31. Maybe you can let a friend wear it or if you want out you can pass it onto one of the backups.

So obviously no soak without them on. Do you guys think getting them wet while on will help? Largo, it sounds like you think it could possibly work. Anyone else have an opinion on this? I want to wear them, but it's tough. I'm leaving for Europe on Wednesday so a decision needs to be made pretty damn quick. Who would get them if I were to pass them on?

I'd say just go ahead and do without the soak. The placement of wear on these things is gonna be weird anyway.

If you're not comfortable wearing them, then they should go to soraanaam, because they would need to be with him by the 7th and I don't know if it makes sense to slot anyone in with a really small window. Probably best to just add one of the reserves on at the end.

Anyway, its your decision, not ours :P You can do whatever you want, as long as you don't hem them, haha.

Agreed. We never got height measurements from everyone, but I assume that we will have a spread and as such, could have potentially wide variance in the wear patterns created, which to a certain extent is the purpose of this whole Tour experiment. That said, ultimately it may not matter much when the soak is done. I think that if you can put wear on them better in their raw state, Captain, then go for it. If you really don't think that you can wear them then pass them on. It would be great if you could stick it out, but as PG noted, that is totally up to you.

So, I gave these a soak with me in them in the tub to see if they would loosen up at all. I went for a ride in them while they were wet, but could feel them getting tighter as they dried. So, unfortunately, I'm going to have to send these on early. I'm not going to be able to give them the proper wear, so I will send them to someone who can. After the ride I gave them a warm soak for one hour. They didn't lose much color, but there was definitely some shrinkage.

The new measurements are.

Thigh: 11 3/4"

Knee: 8"

Opening:7 7/8"

Rise: 10"

Waist: 16" across back

Inseam: 34"

For the record, I bought my 3001s in my normal size (29), and they were fitted but not uncomfortable before the soak. After the soak, they were snug and not fun to wear. I spent the next few days worrying that I had bought the wrong size and should have sized up. After a week, they had stretched out perfectly, to the point where they may have been a little baggier than they were pre-soak. I think captain's doubt is very natural because I went through the same thing. I'm not saying you shouldn't pass them on, but they are slimmer above the knee than most jeans and they will stretch.

I'm 6 feet and 165-170, so we're pretty close :P I got long ass legs though, haha.

Pretty much the same as me, but most of my weight is on my gut. My thighs are decently slim.
