Steve Aoki is playing here in SF on the 28th. They have this Thursday night event called Infatuation and they usually have some pretty good DJ's. Best part: it's free with RSVP and there is usually free liquor tasting until 11. It's my girlfriends birthday so we'll probably see Aoki. I mean he looks ridiculous and has his own iphone app but...it might be fun.

^^ not bad at all for starting off. it would definitely benefit from being a little faster. and as said before with mixes, proper phrasing is key. i like to mix in 4 or 8 bars after the playing song's drop... that's pretty much fail-proof.

What are some good ways to transition between songs with different tempos?

brokenglass - should be legit, we just export to mp3 then pass it. you'd just import the previous persons' snippet and mix in.

serge - unless they're drastically different it shouldn't be too bad, i try to find a middle ground BPM so neither is sped up too fast or slowed down. then just drop according to the track phrases... count your beats, etc. in ableton you can look at the spectrals of the track and basically see where you can fit a mix.
