mine are usually surreal in the sense that a memory or event that has already occured or a environment that i have dug up in my subconscious, is some how slightly altered making it something of both a charicature as well as a shadow of itself. there are similarities, but there is also something malignant that is behind all of what i can remember when i wake up. they're usually not nightmares, but something nightmarish that encroaches on the original feeling of the dream, whether it was happy, neutral, or otherwise.
