Denime

Recommended Posts

Pulled the trigger on some orizzonti era Denime. Been on the hunt for a while but it was hard to find something in good shape. With the help and advice of beautiful_freak I was able to find something.

size 31 measuring 15 laid flat

the inseam was advertised as unhemmed which is also rare, measuring about 33 inches.

there is crazy leg twist, and shorter than 36 inseam so I’m going to guess these have been washed. They look like they’re been worn for a week.

I always wondered how these would fit me, never found a reliable size chart before warehouse took over, never really much information to me. They have baggy thighs and an 8 inch opening and a high rise. I’m guessing these are a relaxed taper. I assume they’re a 501 replica, just not sure what year.

@PrettyBoyTony

Hopefully you can pick out the numbers on the tape there.

More faded pair on left is the 47. One detail I prefer is the rear pocket design on them. Overall I think I prefer the 47, but I do like both.

Basically, waist is slightly bigger on the 54’s front and back rise lower, and have less taper than the 47’s (23cm vs 22cm at 70cm inseam). The thigh is actually the same on both, but the rise makes the fit different of course.

If you’re in the market for a 47 cut my honest recommendation is the WH DD1001XX 47’s. However, these do come in a close second.

Legend! Thanks a lot @Alec LeamasI've decided to go for the 47 then due to the higher rise and smaller leg opening. The denim looks very comfortable and love the faded thighs on your 47s. Almost has a turquoise tint to the fades, maybe because of the added brown cotton? Unless it's just my phone screen. Thanks again 🙏

Good choice @PrettyBoyTony they’re a great cut. The denim is ace too, yeah I think the ever so slightly yellow hue is from the unbleached cotton, the faded areas certainly look a bit browner than any other pair, and true to the Denime / Warehouse era fashion, it faded pretty quickly!!

^ Yes, both the patch and tag (in the back pocket) definitely look like they’ve seen water. Also a 33” inseam on a tagged 36” inseam, that seems fairly conclusive.

Did they ever offer one wash?

And the Denime shops had their own washing machines in the shop where the jeans could be washed. Kinda a one-wash service

That's fascinating. I'm really curious about how this worked. Any idea if these were industrial or residential grade machines? Did they have a dryer too?

This also reminds me, that there should be a WW2 pair coming out at some point soon. Hopefully that does get to happen before the mill closes down!

Would definitely still pick up a pair if it does.

The WW2 will be released tomorrow/any day now

Nice start to the weekend. These just arrived from Denimo.

I actually really love the fabric raw. They're more greyer than the 'basic' denim. Reminds me of Resolute 710 a bit. They also have a copper tint to them.

Nice one! You got the 30 leg too, I reckon after a wash they'll fit in length a treat, and you'll keep the original hem!

You're sure to love these!!

Cheers @Alec Leamas ! Yeah 32 would have been way too long. Last time my 220A didn't shrink as much in the leg as I wanted and i think i slimmed them up way too much by using the dryer to get them to shrink more. This time I'm going to take a more laid back approach

Great stuff.

I think if I were to pick up another pair of 220A in the correct waist it would have to be the L30's - never tried the shorter leg, always rushing to get the new pair in standard 32 and then hemming - I want to see whether the proportions are all nicer on an L30 cut.

@unorthodox that’s great to know!

Your measurement charts on the one wash versions - are they the actual one wash measurements? I assumed so given the L30 ones have an inseam of 31 or so

Yes they are but we are always happy to measure specific pairs as they all differ after a wash + from lot to lot.
