Omega Seamaster Deville

So, I was just given this watch by my Grandmother. She had given it to my grandfather some years ago. The back is engraved personally so it doesn't have the Seamaster emblem. Since the engraving on the back says 1974, I assume it's from that period?

I know nothing about watches though.

Can you guys tell me anything about it?

I believe the De Ville was a 1960's watch. One of the first supposedly solid waterproof watches by Omega (wouldn't take it in the water now...just to be safe).

I've seen a few in antique watch shops and online still selling for reasonable prices.

Hang on to that thing man. Storied watch hand-me-downs are pretty unbeatable in my opinion.

Been researching submariner homages for the last 2 days. Can't afford the Debaufre that I really want at the moment, but came across the Alpha Sub and am about to purchase it. Reviews on watchuseek all seemed excellent and rather surprising for such a cheap watch. Am I going crazy?

i would go with the orient sub instead

imo i wouldn't go with black. a black strap will look like you're trying to make it a formal watch, but the vintage look - with the chips in the gold plating, etc. - will clash.

try brown.

it's probably 16mm, but measure between the lugs.

timezone sales corner has a lot of guys selling a big variety of straps. sure you'll find something there.
