EDIT: forgot to mention the bracelet hasn't been sized, but i'm probably gonna slap a black zulu strap on it for EDC

why not get a gulfman then?

cause (a) i like the offset face of the frogman and (B) i want a Glorious Gold model

but i think it's way too big. the only thing is - is it okay to be this clownishly big because it's a g-shock and not a blinged out watch from jacob, and therefore i wont look like puff daddy? wife thinks i should keep it, but i think it's going back. thoughts?

just go to the rolex service room. its at 665 5th avenue in the rolex building. I had my wife's rolex serviced there. they can probably do it for you pretty quickly.

i don't know about rolex, but other watchmakers (IWC and blancpain) keep a catalog of old parts in their main service center in switzerland. so bring it to the rolex service in NY and they can see if the mothership has the part in the archives. other than that, there are a couple vintage watch guys in the city that are amazing with restoration etc, but they're not going to be able to help you with an extra link on that vintage rolex you posted before. you're probably going to have to have a jeweler make it for you.

ah ic, not too fond of the clear G's mine got yellow after a while and now I don;t wear it anymore. have you seen the new frogman? they look awesome but are huge, don;t think I could pull one off

I agree that yeah most G's will look big no matter what and its okay like you said because its supposed to, guess it just me when I wear watches I know are too big for me I always think other people are thinking the same thing.

As for keeping it I'd say keep it if you really like it and don;t have 2nd thoughts about wearing it and not looking silly, if you do then return it and pick from the other 84378437834 G's out there

interesting about the yellowing, that didn't occur to me. did you try taking the straps and bezel off and putting them in the dishwasher?

think i'm gonna keep it. won't stop me from getting more of the other 84378437834G's out there anyway. i think next on the list is a grey mudman.

Thanks for the info, both of you. Luckily I have the additional links in the box...shouldn't be an issue at the Rolex homefront.

i think the watch looks good ericdw!

however, you may have to be more selective about when you wear it. will work best with more streetwear-sided looks. but i'm just telling you the obvious.

hmm never tried that, but was thinking of getting a G anyways since it has been a while since I last had a G. Thinking of either a gulfman or the new GW7900. mudman is a good choice too I might think about that

thoughts on this Glashutte Original watch? (price seems really good, it's sold out here but I imagine there's probably somewhere I can pick one up?)

I have like $300 saved towards it for now. haha. :o

Dis.. that thing is super booty. There's no way you should spend that much on a watch like that. If you have that much to spend you should really look towards some classic Swiss brands to start with.

really? I realize I don't know anything about watches, but any reason why? I want to get a decent dress watch, it's easiest for me to buy something in Japan, 30-40 man yen range, I will probably wear it once a month or less, but I will inevitably start collecting watches later, as well, so it will be one of a few.

I don't mind this, but 40.9mm is really pushing it for me, I'm better at 38'ish:

Uhm booty as in it doesn;t look good? I'm not crazy about that model either but it certainly is not a booty watch, GO is a top tier manufacturer.

dis I would just go to watch stores and just look around to see what interests you, so many brands out there that your bound to find something you really really like.

I've seen a Glashutte Original watch in Paris, and it was very well built and looked very classy. maybe not as much as an IWC portugaise, but close, and of the same quality.

its pretty much ahead of IWC, GO is in the same league as AP, JLC, A. Lange & Söhne & others of that class

i'd say whoever bought that watch for you should of just gotten you a genuine "place a number of boutique brands that make great watches for great prices"

No rep is worth $800 thats just silly, watch probably cost the buyer $100 from a wholesaler

I don't know if he paid $800 for it, I just saw them online at certain retailers for that price, regardless it's a decent repro, but I don't know much about grahams in the first place

Hey guys. I'm quite ambiguous to the world of watches, but I'm looking to find something analog with a date display in mostly, if not all, black with a budget of $150. I've been looking at Fossils, specifically this or this.

Are these some good ideas? Or are there any other watches that would spark my interest?
