Evolution of Leather Goods: Before and After Pictures

Recommended Posts

Okay, okay, okay — enough new stuff. One of these days, I'm gonna find the attachement to the gf's digital camera and post pics of my long wallet.

For now, I found some really good RM porn on 2nd's website:

I know that RM sdSD are treated with a vegetable tannin to preserve it and stop it from rotting. So yup, the correct term is "unstained"

Knowing that Red Moon uses vegetable tan completes the picture for me... So when we're talking about leather in these forms, it's usually an un-dyed vegetable tanned leather.

Vegie tan leather leaves more life in the surface, so it will respond more dramatically to wear and treatments (sun, oil etc.), and achieve better results in embossing and printing. It costs more than a cheaper 'heavy metal' tan like chrome, but the waste is less harsh on the environment.

Flat Head wallets = Cow Tendon Thread

I'm still trying to get over that.

nice wallet, sidney. did you pick that up from selfedge?

Yes indeed. Yo... it's pre-oiled I think... see that little oil stain on the wrapping paper? The tendon must be happy right now...
