I like heavy weight denim because you have more time to receive heavy fadings and strong character on them till they'll falling apart completely

I totally respect where you're coming from Mega.

I used to feel as you did, until I tried Sugar Cane OKIs...

weirdly, I think they're tougher and more durable than 21-ozers.

Not all 14-15-oz are Sugar Cane OKI level tough, sure,

but let's say that Sugar Cane OKI was my lighter-weight denim

gateway drug, and I've grown to enjoy the lighter-weights since.

Don't get me wrong...I'm still a heavy-weight denim junkie too. :)

I've just grown to appreciate both.

My first two pairs of proper Japanese denim were the sc40300 & sc40301...but around 14.25 oz. I have never felt the need for heavier denim afterwards, though I do own many heavier pairs.

My local climate tends to discourage substantial clothing too :P

i just bought my first pair of selvage denim (momotaro 0701's) after 6 or so years of wearing tight black jeans by claude maus, april 77, acne etc. i was always interested in jp denim, but i guess it never really fit into most of my wardrobe and i never took the plunge until now. its taking some getting used to, but it feels so substantial and well made - i love them already. only bummer is i bought them just as its turning into summer. :o
