Waldes was formed in 1918 in NYC but is made in Japan these days by Asahi Fastener Co. Here's some history into the original company: https://www.brownstoner.com/queens/long-island-city/where-zippers-were-made-in-long-island-city/ Asahi's been around since '53, no idea when they started making repro Waldes zippers: http://www.waldes.co.jp/company2.html Their zippers are great though, I have them on my Allen Leathers jacket, Superior Labor pouch, etc. Here are some vintage examples: https://www.etsy.com/listing/677297924/vtg-40s-50s-california-sportswear-brown?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=waldes+zipper&ref=sr_gallery-1-2&cns=1 https://www.etsy.com/listing/575151786/medium-50s-black-red-plaid-wool-hunting?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=waldes+zipper&ref=sr_gallery-1-3 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1950s-1960s-Salt-Pepper-Gray-Work-Pants-Gripper-Snap-Waldes-Zipper-33x28/123704851822?hash=item1ccd623d6e:g:PhYAAOSwok9clxC0

I think I managed to get the blue/black nature of the denim. At least in person I can see it. It’s taken a lot of wear, though.

2012, I ordered this Ai dyed Eastern shirt from R by 45RPM and then cancelled it, ugh. It was dyed with natural indigo the color of a worn pair of Jomon jeans using the same hand dipped method; great cut, great details. I'm still ragging on myself for cancelling the order and glad to have this thread to vent, thanks ooms!

No point in getting on the waitlist for a restock if it's like that. It's a you snooze you lose scenario.

It's easy to say that the Full Count folks were laughing about the situation and that all is fine from their end, but—lawsuit or not—TCB was nonetheless required to coordinate the return of dozens of pairs of jeans, and to replace them at their own cost. I haven't really taken a side in the matter, but to claim that it was no big deal on the basis of there having been no formal lawsuit doesn't seem quite fair.

No intentions to argue, this is friendly conversation. I have a very high arch, and for my whole life I bought into the marketing BS about arch support, including White's, until about 5+ years ago. I stumbled into the barefoot shoe world, much like I stumbled into the raw denim world. You don't need arch support, high heels, toe spring, cushioning, etc. Maybe you think you do because you've always worn footwear like that, but you can strengthen and retrain you feet and legs to not need any of it. Shoes are the cause of almost all foot issues, including bunions, flat feet, etc. Enough on that tho, I try not to get preachy about it around here... Anyway, I'm as big of heritage work boot fan as there is, I just can't wear any conventional footwear anymore because they hurt my feet too much. I'm much. much happier in barefoot-type shoes & boots, it sucks that they're all cheap and ugly.

That guy cracks me up. Get off the high horse. He just makes me want to buy more whites. I’m happy with my whites. It’s just a big piss contest. So who has the original logger boot?? wesco, whites, nicks, Drew’s, Franks all have a logger smokejumper style boot. Everyone steals from everyone

Workman shirt in Gunpowder Tea from the Sportsman collection. A wonderful, somewhat hefty HBT fabric with very low color fastness - this thing was dark grey/deep green until I washed it initially and then wore it a lot. As with almost all MFSC shirts, it’s really too long to be worn untucked, but it’s the only way I roll when not suited up:
