  1. S1003XX hemmed, washed again, and tried on. Yeah, I like these. Still mystery around what the fabric is - even wondered whether it was the same as the Signet x Warehouse contest jeans fabric. That was said to be a WW2 fabric, and had the same mustard selvedge id.

  9. Agreeing with @bartlebyyphonics's subtle, easily wearable point... and chiming in on that... I feel there's a degree of sophistication in the jeans - I can wear them at work and they feel 'smart'; I can wear them in leisure and they feel 'casual'. They're slimmer than I've worn in a good few years - but only took a little adapting actually - and now they're a different and very welcome add-on to my jeans rail. As @Alec Leamas's point, a degree of Italian sophistication perchance Looks like you gents are leading the pack... no fades or real glimmers yet here... June '26 is some time off though

  10. Next prewash update Ooe Yofukuten Lot OA01XX-0522: The pair feels very light and extremely comfortable on the body (sometimes I feel Zimbabwe cotton like FC), fit well on the body, joyful experience Thread count, thread color and stitches per inch are well balanced throughout the pair and helps create an elegant look and feel. Consistent placement of iPhone in right front pocket has left marks of usage (not very prominent) Whiskers are prominent Buttons have become shiny (couldn't capture well by camera) Usage of wallet in left back pocket developed marks, waiting for blowout with more usage Nice puckering on back pockets and yoke raised loops have started fading nicely I liked slight puckering of waist band (maybe I will not like extensive puckering) raised loop like double stitching, from crotch area to yoke with raised cloth , caused similar character like "raised loops fading" (either deliberate by OA or incidental , though very nice). leather patch still intact and very soft like silk train tracks are prominent copper rivets at pockets have started change in color honey combs the best roping, I have experienced so far among all Japanese Raw Denim pairs I have though not well captured by camera but stitching on inseam looks very elegant An unwanted crease during 1st wash also got prominent (my mistake during first wash)

  11. Absolutely! .. i'm not great with large department stores at the best of times.. i haven't been in one for more than a decade.. my Ikea experience was just after lockdown.. apart from my daily hour of exercise.. i hadn't been out of the house for ages but i'd just made the boy a desk for his bedroom and he needed an office type swivel chair which looked like bedroom furniture rather than office furniture, not something i really wanted to buy online.. I'd seen one at M&S and one at Ikea so we went to try them for size when restrictions were lifted.. I was already feeling pretty apprehensive about it.. when we got there my kid was hungry because he didn't have any breakfast so he and my mrs went to the cafe in Ikea while i went to find the chairs.. "ring me when you've done" said i. When i got into the store.. everything was taped off due to 2m covid restrictions.. i wandered around but couldn't find the chairs or (because of covid restrictions again) any staff to ask, my phone signal was zero so i couldn't call the family, i wandered around for what seemed like hours then i heard my name on the tannoy saying "Double 0.. please go to such and such department" but i had no clue where that department was? I didn't even know what department i was in . Abandoned the trolley, and started retracing my steps back to the entrance but they force you through the store and through an unmanned till point.. when i eventually got back to the entrance the door wouldn't open.. it was one way with a sensor.. had a bit of a mini freakout and went into the loading bay area to ask for help.. a friendly driver took me into the carpark and i went to sit in the car, got a phone signal, rang my mrs and asked them to meet me outside.. they said we're in the chair department, "come back in and have a look at these chairs".. but i couldn't bear it.. we ended up ordering one from John Lewis..

  17. Thanks Georg! I'm really pleased you enjoyed the talk 🙂 I'd add a couple of points to @julian-wolf's excellent advice- firstly I think these spots actually look kind of great, and especially as they're quite low on the garment I don't think I'd worry about them too much. But if they're an issue for you, the first thing I'd check is if you've tried a stain remover as well as a wool wash? These can be a problem with dyed garments, but as this is just undyed wool it's worth having a go with a natural stain bar (I like the clay-based type sold as 'savon de marseille terre de sommière'), or even just a regular supermarket one- Oxiclean stain stick gel does a pretty amazing job, although it's potentially harsher. If you do decide to dye your shirt, please bear in mind that the thread on these Weaver's Stock shirts is synthetic, so it may show up as a contrast white to whatever colour you dye with. This depends a bit on the dye and the method you use, and will be less noticeable on a relatively light dye colour. I hope this make sense and helps! the texture on your shirt is really special, so it should look good whatever you decide- please let us know.

  18. A bit tyred? I saw the stage show of Fawlty Towers last night as Mrs F got half price tickets from one of the actors (half price = £45 each). 2 regular size glasses of wine cost £25! Theatre is definitely not a cheap night out. However, if you liked the TV series, you’d definitely like this, some real laugh out loud moments. Recommended (if you can get discounted tickets).

A few cheap and inaccurate reproduction have been made but I wanted an original and few years back I finally found one. Im not saying it's screen used but I bought it from a seller outside of L.A. so you never know! Just perfect.

  32. New Denime sweatshirt, after a wash and dry. Love the fit, jersey is super soft and the perfect weight for wearing over a tee, as shown, or layering. Denime’s jeans aren’t long enough for me but I’m happy to wear their tops.

  34. ^ Dyeing it’s a great idea, and the wool will take dye plenty well—especially if you’ve already been wearing it and washing it for a while—but be warned that the stained spots will probably not end up the same color as the rest of the garment. They might blend better, or the shirt might end up a color that you’re more happy to wear it with stains on it, but an okay rule of thumb is that if you can’t wash them out you probably can’t dye over them. (If you wear an antiperspirant that contains aluminum, you’ll also want to be very thorough in scouring around the armpits, or they’ll end up a different color.)

  35. @rodeo bill that was a very interesting talk but too late vor me so I missed the second half- many thanks for the link!! Hello tender friends, this is a weavers stock shirt made of wool. It has a stain that cannot be removed in the wool wash. I am thinking about dyeing it. Does anyone have experience with this? Any product recommendations? Best Georg

  36. As promised, here's a video of my talk. Just gone out to mailing list subscribers, but for people that aren't on that, here it is: https://mediaspace.wisc.edu/media/Understandable+Design+and+Perfect+Imperfections+with+William+Kroll+of+Tender+Co./1_8yi6cv0u/171463141 A bit in there about superfuture and how great our community is in general, and some examples of member's Tender clothes, although I could have sited many more. I checked with the only person who's visible themselves (thank you!), I hope other members won't mind their things being shown- I only used images already posted publicly.

  38. For many years I have been eyeing the ”new” version of the TCB Type 2 jacket. I got the old version in a smaller size but found it too slim for my liking. This time I sized up to a 46 so I can layer it with a thicker shirt or a sweater. I’m really happy with the fit. Much better proportions from the old one. sorry for the bad picture 😕

  40. Fit pics and impressions of my Late S40s jeans. I absolutely love these jeans. This is my first pair of TCB (and first serious, specific repro jeans) and I'm really impressed, especially considering the sub-$200 price tag. I got this size 31 pair from Bears, and had them hemmed to 34", which is the ideal no-cuff length for me. This is an incredibly quirky pair, given the inspiration from the wartime S501xx. The flannel pocket bags are super cool, the sewing quirks charming and fun. In spite of the replication of the oddities of wartime jeans, these are obviously very well made. The denim is dark, hairy, and full of character, so I'm excited to see how it ages and how close it comes to some of the great-looking S501xx pairs I've seen online. The 13.5 oz weight is just about ideal to me nowadays, and is well suited to life in north Georgia where it's pretty warm most of the year. I like the fit a lot, too. The regular rise feels great, and though there's plenty of hip flare and room in the top, after a couple days of wear the fit has settled and I'm quite pleased with it. This is a pair that's easy to wear daily with all sorts of outfits. Highly recommended!
