Further reminder that this denim hobby is a slow game (not that we need it) The reason the worn-in pic looks totally staged is because it is 😃 My 'photographer' teenage son landed a massive fluke, I mean deliberate picture with near identical foot position and jacket bluster due to the right to left wind in the park (no, it's not a trial for Instagram 😉 and no idea what app you use to collate 2 pictures)!! Same kit, except the jeans have been hemmed and the chambray is different Oh and the people on the bench... they'd gone and we couldn't find them 3 years (and a bit) apart, Dec 2021 to Jan 2025... slow game indeed... OK ok I hear you... I'll go back to standing in front of a wall again next time 😉14 points

Apparently I've been neglecting this thread in favor of the 'pictures' one so didn't notice all the cheering Happy Birthdays until just now. Thanks you all!!! On the day we had a quiet gathering at home, just Mrs. CSL, her sister & the bro in law, but the night before I was part of a show in LA where I got to be made a fuss of by my circle of music friends.5 points

The Dispossessed is one of my favorite sci-fi's. I also always look for J. G. Ballard vintage paperbacks, but those are hard to find with the exception of my copy of Concrete Island which was not in my photos. I have always loved hardboiled novels and film noir. My first introduction was watching a lot of the classic noir with my grandparents as a boy, which was the start of my love of film. If I did not turn out to be an engineer/chemist/scientist, I would have loved to have gone for a Film Studies or English PhD instead. Instead, it's just a hobby that I still found creative outlet for in photography and writing. I wrote a screenplay a few years ago between the end of my post-doc and start of my current job. The 1947 film adaptation of Lady in the Lake is worth a watch for novelty's sake, since it's a rare film shot from a 1st person perspective. If you like the Marlowe, books the Lew Archer series is worth a read as well. They're my favorite hardboiled novels once MacDonald finds his own voice around book 5. Incidentally, film is tangentially related to how I became interested in Japanese denim, particularly of the repro variety. My other long running film interests besides noir was classic Japanese cinema, which branched out into curiousity about other Japanese things. Eventually, it fused with my interests in mid-century noir when I discovered that Japanese brands were making exact reproductions of vintage mid-century Levis. we have some cool movie posters in our basement as well, although not vintage. Some are custom designs for film retrospectives from a micro theatre in the Twin Cities that my wife and I used to frequent when we lived there.5 points

The answer is in the first post of the picture thread 😊 I can move your initial fit pics back though. Others posted those as well i think. "Please post your RAW/DRY/RIGID picture of the jeans with a newspaper or another method to show the date in this thread. Afterwards you are good to go. Soak, wash or wear them how you like. 18 months later we will use this thread to showcase the final results! Keep the banter and journey of the jeans in the original thread."4 points

I'm not anymore as anal as I used to be with these sort of things. Day one here. I'ts a beautiful windy day and I work from home so the jeans are already dry from a lukewarm soak and this is how they fit. The waist stretched back easily, the rest of it shrunk to perfection. I'm only tempted to toss them in the machine for peace of mind later on and to take another couple cms off the inseam length. I'm delighted with the jeans, love the fit! great denim, light but crunchy, I feel it'll fade great. I can totally see me being loyal to these jeans for the most of the next 18 months, easily.4 points

I did ask for the insurance but didn’t think of the tax. My fault I guess. Still a bit sickening. Just bought 2 Cushman sweatshirts from Japan. Shipped, they each cost about what this bill was. I lost a new sweatshirt to HMRC today gang! Scheduled for delivery on Tuesday. Monday was an extra £12! I’ll take the savings where I can get them. Still very much looking forward to them3 points
