Picked up the lined DSB Type 1. Given it a warm wash and dry, looking a teensy bit larger than I would have liked but I got the lined as an autumn / winter / spring jacket and wanted to be able to fit a t shirt/shirt with a flannel/hoodie underneath so perhaps it’s perfect. One thing I am totally sure of is I have instantly caught the denim jacket bug. Oh dear.9 points

@AlientoyWorkmachine We’ve done some of both. The loquat leaves were foraged; in the past I’ve foraged plenty of eucalyptus, oak galls, mosses. Most of the flowers we’ve used have been from local farms, plus some from our or my mom’s garden. Every year I clean and save all of my avocado pits and skins, which are a lot of fun, and I’ve had friends give me shavings from projects using Brazil wood. The re-using waste / leftovers approach is a definite favorite. I’ve also bought & used dried cochineal, turmeric, safflower, hibiscus, who knows what else…not to mention buying fully ready made kakishibu goo. Collecting and prepping dye stuffs can be a really fun part of the process, but at the end of the day I’m so far removed from the production of the fabrics themselves, not to mention all the chemical mordants and additives, that it hardly feels like cheating to just buy something that’s a cool color and dump it in a pot. Store-bought cochineal and kakishibu, in particular, have been some of my absolute favorite projects.3 points

I received my D5335 work shirt from Rodeo yesterday, returning as its to big anyway but couldn't help but notice that the chest pockets weren't aligned. Not sure if it's intentional, hard to tell looking at the SDA site images but looking back at Rodeos images you can see it. Another incoming form R&H so will find out on Wednesday!3 points

Solid fit @gmn. 1101 is such an easy cut to get the sizing right, since they'll look good on most people across a few sizes.1 point

@julian-wolf do you forage + make your own dyes or buy materials? I've been dyeing with the walnuts in my backyard for awhile, but thinking of foraging some sumac berries this fall. I've also got baptisia tinctoria in my native garden (a "false" indigo, or yellow wild indigo), but I can't find any recipes for it even though it's been used as an indigo dye, albeit is considered an inferior one - still it could be cool to dye something light blue off of it if I could figure it out.1 point

Yes his stuff are really cool. It’s the same guy that was previously known as woods mountain. Went through a rebranding of some sort.1 point

To answer my own question. These are definitely true to size. My cousin was in Tokyo last week so I asked her to grab me a 30, I assumed the 10oz denim would stretch. It did stretch but still very tight since I gained a little weight, so I’m closer to a 32 right now. I’m really liking this pair though, and I’ll see if I can drop a little weight to really enjoy them. Here are some bad pics and forgive the DIRTY shoes, they’re just so comfy1 point
