Vintage deadstock Frye boots. Seller said they were a sample on display in a flagship store. They smell like an old motorcycle jacket. Super Solid. Reminds me a little of the Clinch cowboy boots by Brass Show Co. A little sturdier and more structured with thicker soles and no toe embellishment. Tea core leather too. Should last forever.7 points

Follow up with a comparison now that I have both. Measurements at every point down the leg are about 0.25” larger on the Fullcount 1101xx, but the top block is cut differently enough (slightly smaller front rise, larger back rise, good bit wider hip measurement) which makes them fit a good bit looser. Exactly what I was after.2 points

I was going to post these in the TCB thread, but then I remembered this is where I first heard about MOTO. The shoes and braces are from MOTO, and the jeans are Motor New Vintage "old baggy" denim. Many of you know it's based on '90s denim. I had a couple pair of CK jeans in '92. We would get them two sizes up and cinch them with a belt. These are so great, for me. They take me back, and the plain toe Cordovans remind me of the Timberlands we wore back then. Good times as an undergraduate. Anywho, here are the pants with my growing MOTO collection.2 points

What's the width & thickness? Might be interested in the medium brown one, you're right that it's a beautiful buckle1 point

Sizing has been my biggest blunder. That abd buying too much too soon. Now I have a bunch of brand new pairs about a size or two too big I have to now sell. I measured wrong and went up a size when I shouldn't have1 point

Three more of these lovely Tezonmeya t-shirts landed recently I went with 2x long-sleeved in the 185cm size (roughly XL) and one short-sleeved in the 175cm (L) I'm a big fan of the fantastic, warm, dull and deep (almost oxymoronic but true) plant based colours... and how well they wear (I see them as casual with many uses) Julian shared his lovely faded t-shirts above which spurred me into action +++ I have to say that the service from Tezomeya was excellent... great communication with much appreciated flexibility that has set me up for summer - very pleased Nibi-iro... delicate gray from green alder cones + iron mordant Miru-iro... khaki green from bayberry tree bark Kenbourguro-iro... deep black from indigo + Bayberry tree bark + iron mordant Plus here's the full colour range for those interested...1 point

So this is a bump from the depths. I came across a similar reference in my research to this almost ethereal brand from Yamane and Tsujita pre-Evis. As you can see, there is very little info out there on the history or details and virtually no pictures. It doesn't help that the brand continued in obscurity under Lapine as an in-house budget brand. But what I do know is the pre-Evis era Rodeo Uncles were made using the same hardware as early Evis, Scoville buttons and rivets. Other details like denim and leather patch seem to change. This pair has what looks like deer skin, thin and pliable. Others have the thicker leather patch. This denim is also pink line, unlike Ed's example with red line. It is very deep blue, reminds of Denime XX. This model, 5501, is a seemingly 66-ish detailed, 50s-ish silhouette jean. An unbelievable find.1 point

It gets even more complicated when you consider that most people don't wear their jeans on their actual waist anymore, but on their hips. So a 31-32 size on a pair of jeans, even if it actually measures 31-32", really corresponds with where they sit on my hips, my actual waist being a bit smaller. Anyway, different topic, I've found the way I wear my jeans has changed in recent times. I've been wearing them uncuffed for a few reasons: I no longer care about showing off selvedge; it has a bit of a cleaner/less noisy/costume-y appearance; and maybe most of all, no more cleaning out dirty cuffs or expensive darning repairs on blown-out cuff lines. Although I still wash my jeans on what most would consider an infrequent basis and like to have some good contrast fading, I'm giving a lot more thought to overall longevity. I'm keeping my keys, wallet, phone in a Porter Yoshida shoulder bag of the sort you see guys wearing all the time in Japan, which means no annoying phone pocket fade, cleaner overall appearance, and avoiding pocket repairs caused by wallets. I started to feel like my appearance had gotten really complicated with the accessories, and I'm enjoying this simplified look of just jeans + belt at the visual center of my outfits. It's a bit more of a down-to-earth, low key look, which I suppose also suits me getting older and leaning into dadhood and all that.1 point

Perfect slim fit. Definitely giving the Ivy vibe. Been in my 220s for the last couple of days, really rewarding denim once you start wearing it in.1 point
