Today Second Sunrise here in Stockholm hosted their third annual denim market, this year was very special though because Hajime and Ryo from TCB had flown over from Japan and had a little pop-up inside the store. It was just a great honor to meet both of them and have a little chat, such cool and kind guys with a true passion for denim. Hajime was even kind enough to sign my 505s. So thanks to both Second Sunrise and TCB for making it possible for us denim nerds to meet some of the people behind one of the best denim brands right now, it was truly amazing!8 points

When I was a kid, we spent around a week each year at a family friend's cabin up in the mid-Sierra, off of the 108. It's on a (dammed) lake, so plenty of swimming, fishing, exploring, etc. Over the span of the 2010s, the lake got more and more crowded, and I focused my spare time less and less on frontcountry. Around 10 years went by without me visiting. Anyway, this summer we got an invitation to go back. I'm taking a few months off from work, so time isn't as much of a commodity for me; and, anyway, there's something going on with the connective tissue in one of my knees, so backcountry hiking is off the table for the time being. Cabin trip seemed perfect. Spent last week laying low, playing board games, sitting + swimming + fishing by the water, working on fixing up an old pair of Cane's…lots of fun through and through.4 points

And some interior photos, which I think have been lacking from previous updates…I'm a sucker for the 2x-spliced-together selvedge lines down the outseams, and for the oxidized–bleached spots where the front rivets hit the back yoke, when the jeans are folded.3 points

Had some time to kill w/ a needle and thread this week while out of town, so I put some more time in on the old M41200 that got their seat replaced earlier this year. Knees were wearing dangerously thin all the way out to past the outseams. Did the topstitching around the edges of the denim by hand, then closed everything up on the machine after getting back home. The patch fabric is leftover from some SC40302 Okinawa jeans that are now cutoffs, I think the grass-dyed version (whatever that means). Throwing in some general wear photos, too, while I'm here: the seams where the new denim from the last repair meets the old are starting to see some nice puckering!3 points

This is the power of marketing for me. Do I collect pants? Yea, apparently I do to some extent. Do I think of myself as someone who collects pants? No. Pants are for wearing. I buy them to wear (eventually), not to admire, stockpile, etc. ”Super Denim Collectibles” makes it an easy pass! I guess I should thank SC, really. Otherwise I might end up with more jeans.3 points

Just saw some info about the next "Super Denim Collectibles" I wasn't sure there would be more but it was also said there are 8 possible items. Next ones: 1942 jeans 1945 jeans 1945 jacket3 points

In the wording it says that this buckleback model was only made from April to August 1942? Wonder when the second factory opened as there was only the Valencia Street facility in December 1942. After the war there 3 Levis factories.1 point

Damn, where did you find the pics already?! I am more of a no-cinch guy so the 1945 are more intersting to me1 point

Now everything is SOLD! (and the rebuilt will stay in my collection).1 point

Nice. Wonder if the 1942 model will be a pre-December 1942 (buckleback 501xx) or post-December 1942 (S501XX)?1 point

That’s my hesitation with trying a 17. I could just convert to short sleeve western and use the pearly snaps from the cuffs to bedazzle the shirt!1 point

At the denim market I went to today I managed to snag these almost new 710s for a great price, I've always wanted to give the 710 another honest try so it felt right to pick them up. The inseam is slightly shorter than what I'm used to but that's the Resolute style I suppose? First impressions are really good, love the lightness and fuzzyness of the denim and they are not quite as slim as I expected the 710 to be. A little bit of Hayashi-style for those who like that!1 point

^ I remember seeing a pair of these where the pocket patch stitching had come undone. From the outside it's blank rough-out leather, but underneath it was a standard Evisu Godhead patch, turned over and cut in half! I liked the make-do attitude. Lovely jeans, in any case1 point

Pardon the quality of the photos. They are screenshots from video. So yesterday around noon my dogs started freaking out. I thought a coyote perhaps, but when I looked out the window here's what I saw... After a moment of disbelief, thinking where did they come from & how did they get here, I went outside to take a look. Apparently I seemed untrustworthy & they wandered off to the far end of our property. Luckily our fences are decent, but they really didn't seem like they wanted to get out. So after making some calls 911, & getting a referral to Animal Control, someone came around & checked the ear tags. Not long after the owner showed up. He asked if I would mind driving his truck & trailer while he went in on horseback to bring them out. Would I mind?? I've been waiting all my life for an adventure like this!! Here's the rancher guiding the cows out to the road. Initially I had thought the plan would be to load them in the trailer right there but apparently cow behaviour requires a more complicated procedure. This consisted of getting the cows onto a neighboring property where there is a corral. The white car contained Mrs CSL, coming home from work btw. On first attempt rather than going to the right, the cows veered off to the left into the wrong gateway which luckily was closed. After this I was instructed to bring the truck ahead of the desired entryway & park in a position that would guide the cows in. The second attempt was successful the three cows were herded a ways back on to that property to a corral. The next operation was to get the cows into a smaller corral & back the trailer up to that gate, accurately so they animals couldn't get tangled in any gaps around the trailer. Once this was done, the rancher shoo'd the cows into the trailer, and then loaded his horse. Then back to Chez CSL to drop me off & we were done. Kinda blew my day but it was a fun adventure & I learned a few things about cows.... And I came home to find my Fullcount 30th anniversary jacket had arrived, so a good day all around. I made a video where I cover 7 pairs of Acronym pants and 4 pairs of Nike ACG pants from the era where Errolson Hugh was collaborating with them. This has by far been the most detailed video I've ever put together. Acronym wise I cover the pants P30A-DS, P10-E, SP29-M, P39-M, P23A-DS, SP29K-M and P53-WS. ACG wise I cover the pants ACG Cargo Trousers Blue, ACG Cargo Shorts, ACG Cargo Trousers Black, and ACG Deploy Cargo Trousers One thing I always miss from newer Acronym pants is how the phone pockets lack extra webbing to wrap over the top of a phone, this is something that was seen on their pants pre 2022 and is for some reason missing today.1 point

@rbeck, thanks. I’ve been cycling pretty much all my life and for a long time taught about that would be cool to make one. But it was never on my radar where and how it was done. until I bought a frame from a builder who builds in his shed. when I saw that , I realized it was something you can do. You don’t need a factory. so I dove into it, and found the bicycle academy, did a two week course there.during those two weeks I build my first frame under their guidance. when I came home I found a workshop place(moved twice, by now) and hoarded a lot of tools. It’s been 5 yrs now1 point
