so yeah, they were pretty tight. they have relaxed a good bit since then, no recent pictures though... i think i just put the initial stress on them then and it kind of worked in from that time. he's stitching it up for me

There's nothing wrong with their quality. Where's your opinion based on.
I've been thinking on this, and I suppose it depends on your perspective. I'm not sure I can condone paying $300 for a pair of selvedge Nudies (well, the ones I'm interested in), when I'm certain there are better and cheaper brands (with various fits) out there; whether it's detailing or holding indigo better. Even some of their non-selvedge pairs cost about $200.

But to each his own. Everyone has different tastes.

All I can say is that you can wash samurais every 2 weeks and they will still get amazing contrasty fades. Nudies pleads with their customers to wait 6 months before washing and has warning photos on their website what happens if you "wash too soon"

Hmm... Sorry but from the 100s of pics I've seen Samurai's turn out best when washing kept to a minimum. Especially honeycombs show much better contrast when washed after a long period of time.

No doubt Samurai's hold their indigo way better but I think Nudie does a great job on dry denim! And when followed the 6 month guideline you'll get an amazing pair. Fades certainly dont do under for sam's.

I think he just means you can wash a pairs of Sams, and not have to worry about ruining a so called "process." I've seen Sams turn out pretty well with 3-4 washes.

You might plausibly get better detailed fades from holding off washing, but it shouldn't hurt if you decide to wash them.

It's really about preference. What you like and what not. I can't be bothered to explain to people why it's better to spend xxx$ amount of dollars on denim when they contend that they can purchase 2 pairs at kohl's which will probably last them for at least an year.

In short, it all depends on what you're looking for. Looking for vintage details, superior indigo and craftsmanship? Go for japanese denim. Looking for more modern cuts / wacky dyes / stronger euro branding? Go for nudies.

at first, i loved the shine on my coated jeans, but after a while they had a similar sheen as to leather pants so I decided to wash them. they now have a faded black colour and I love it. some mad knee holes and I'll start wearing them to grunge shows
