Dyeing my sweatshirt, cross-post from RxC contest thread:

Finally got around to dyeing one of the sweatshirts I bought on sale.

I tried a little concoction of Indian Almond (Terminalia catappa) leaves and some Taiwanese highland tea-leaves.:

Boiled for 30 minutes:

Decided not to blend the ingredients up, as I didn't want a proper brown.

In it goes, 24 hour soak:

And out it comes, after two machine-washes with detergent to remove excess pigments:

I have a couple of spots of darker staining, but oh well, I'm happy with my very amateur results.

Can I call this colour "oat-meal"?

Went to Pescadero Beach/Marsh today for a hike. There was a shit ton of drift wood washed up on all the beaches along the coast from all the recent storm activity. Some beautiful colors and textures to be found.

This one reminds me of either Cartman or the school kids from The Wall.

I took a stroll through Blankenese to the Elbe. It's beautiful there, but only the rich and not so beautiful can afford to live there. Anyway, it reminds me of tuscany towns.

So here's the last batch from our stay at the cottage.

We had fantastic weather ( with one snowstorm ), and went out to hike or xcountry ski every day.

After the snowstorm blew over, everything looked like a scene from a fairy tale - icing sugar dusting… It all crusted over within a day tho...

Early mornings were best for bushwhacking, since the crust was still hard and kept us from sinking in!

This is on a maintained trail - we were out for most of the day.

We caught a great sunset on the hike back home:

We were driving back home on Sunday, when we saw an huge flock of ducks migrating back the south. We pulled over to get some shots, and their sheer numbers (as well as the volume of noise they were making!) were astonishing.

We hit the thousand islands area right around sunset. While it wasn't across the lake, the colours were fantastic - shades of purple, pink & orange.

And on that note - g'night!
