We also found a table that would be perfect for craps or poker! its a shame we only had leaves to play with..

Michael Haris was in SF today, getting ready for a book signing at Unionmade tomorrow (1-4pm), so my jeans and he went to Levi's plaza to meet and greet:

Mike and Una Murphy. Una runs some of the high end Levi's lines now, and used to work at LVC before it went to Belgium.

Mike brought some waistband portions of some 1870s/'80s 501s.

In the Vault exhibit, looking at 1880s 501s.

Looking at a really beautiful early closed-front duck jumper.

a salesman's sample, about 9" tall, from the early 1940s.

Then to Unionmade so Mike could see the space.

I live at the bottom of a hill... every year at this time thousands of people start walking up it to the clearing at the top...

upthehill.jpg

There's a massive space at the top - called Blackheath, one of London's old open spaces, a traditional place for armies to gather during peasants' revolts.

And tonight it feels pagan. Guy Fawkes' night celepebrates the time the catholics attempted to blow up the Houses of Parlaiment and failed... but I suspect it also has Pagan origins. It's just a celebration fo fire, and explosions...

Have been checking out shelters for the last couple weeks for a new dog. Heard about this guy that was brought up here from the south because his time was up at his current kennel. He's a lab rottweiler mix with a blue tongue. A boy with no name and 5 months old. Was abused and is scared of tall men. Spent the afternoon trying to start a bond with him and if it works out he is moving in with us. 710s got hairy(ier):)

kills me to see a dog thats been broken. His head would just hang for the first couple hours and he would not respond to positive physical attention whatsoever. They gave us a room to be alone with him and it took awhile to even get him out from hiding behind the copy machine. Going to spend tomorrow with him too, hope he remembers us. If we give him a home any name recommendations? Was thinking Jamie Foxx but B wasn't having it.

Took my Okis to Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery. Mango Mama, the world's greatest beer, is available in growlers for a limited time to celebrate their anniversary. I could have taken other pictures, but this was by far the most important part of my day.

OUt early.. . with a delivery to make...

manu.jpg

But we visited some of our fave places on the way...

ciggies.jpg

gliders.jpg

These guys are called Pearly Kings and Queens - traditional Cockney dress.

prelykings.jpg

They were next to the stall where baby t plans to work. A quick check on his height, they reckon he can start in two years. As long as he brings his bag of sweets to work in the morning...

flowerstall.jpg

OUr friend Ben, who's sold odd bits from me in the past - but then probabyl made even more with stuff I've bought off him... has a lot of guts. And other body parts.

guts.jpg

heart.jpg

heads.jpg

One of these days, I'm gonna get my nails filed by these fifties floozies. I have posted this place before, but some shallow people, like almostnice, always appreciate them...

Round the corner from where we get our coffees (Present - who have the new Inventory. Outta my budget at £16, though) we did some quick channeling of Lendo...

lendo2-1.jpg

Tootal, LVC, SDA, Tickers, H&M, Levi's vintage, Clarkes. Cigarettes from Turkey.

Then a drive to make our delivery. On our way we passed one of London's oldest buildings - the Tower of London, built from 1100, in front of one of the newest : Renzo Piano'sThe Shard - a jagged, glass-encased building just by London bridge which is due to complete in 2012.

shardandtowerofLondon.jpg

and finally... dropped my manuscript off here - the Unilever building, owned by the makers of Persil washing powder, who rent a floor or two out to my publishers. THey will need to sell a hell of a lot of my books to pay the rent. One step nearer to life without David Jones. I dreamt about him last night... maybe the time approaches when I won't.

unilever.jpg

Then, back home via our local chinese hypermarket, no work to think about except eating. Have a great Sunday night, folks!

have been really busy lately with work stuff. still haven't gotten out to shoot for real, will tonight / today for sure, so expect 1st post from the 5D today at some point. just walking around the Mall of America yesterday to check out the new Microsoft store...(i'm a Mac guy for life, however I do own an xbox and kinect is pretty damn cool...) look where they placed it, maybe trying to make a statement???? it was damn funny to watch the microsoft and mac guys eye it down across the hallway...

5154893082_165b2ff94f_z.jpg

the interior of the store was very well done, i really liked the video walls that went all the way around the store. the only thing that bugged me was the lack of, well, any kind of consistency in the store. stuff just seemed all over the place. granted it was busy...

5154892378_131dab6893_z.jpg

and on the way home tonight figured i'd mess around with my 17-40L handheld in the dark. which, with the high ISO performance of the 5D mkII was a piece of cake. hand held at 17mm 1/60 f/4 ISO 2000.

5154285113_8daa504976_z.jpg

sorry for the crap post, just wanted to get some pics up. :)
