going to go out on a limb here and ask all the knifeheads who watch this thread

what do you guys think between strider and emerson? I own both, EDC both, and i really can say with certainty i think these knives are 100% at par with one another.

any opinions on this?

i like striders over emerson. i had one cqc14 but i sold that and got another sng. emerson just had too many problems with the lock-up and rattle from the backstop. plus, i like s30v over 154cm, and strider's lifetime + "no questions asked" warranty is awesome.

anyone interested in copping some knives? i need monies.

selling my leafstorm

maybe small sebenza 21

usn endura 4 mib

and probably my ti mega dangler.

don't remember if i posted this, but it's my new sng:

number 2? wut da.

i've actually used almost everything except for the stanley containter. i leave most of it in my car. i used the gauge + elastic bandaid wrap thing to stop bleeding on my friend. ( it wasn't even that bad, i just wanted to use it)

OK serious post time. I know a lot of people carry knives, and many are informed about carrying and your local laws, but it's always good to know exactly what the law states. Some states are more strict, especially when it comes to confiscation from police, so take a few minutes and read your local laws and make sure you comply with them. It'd be a shame to get a misdemeanor/felony or have a knife confiscated because you weren't informed.

The best policy if you're carrying a knife (so long as laws permit you) is to carry it concealed in my opinion. Flashing a knife makes you look like a jerk sometimes and may cause unwanted attention.

For University of California pplz:

Any person, except a duly appointed peace officer as defined

in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2, a

full-time paid peace officer of another state or the federal

government who is carrying out official duties while in this state, a

person summoned by any officer to assist in making arrests or

preserving the peace while the person is actually engaged in

assisting any officer, or a member of the military forces of this

state or the United States who is engaged in the performance of his

or her duties, who brings or possesses any dirk, dagger, ice pick, or

knife having a fixed blade longer than 21/2 inches upon the grounds

of, or within, any private university, the University of California,

the California State University, or the California Community Colleges

is guilty of a public offense, punishable by imprisonment in a

county jail not exceeding one year, or by imprisonment in the state

prison.

so it sounds like just fixed blades are a bad idea. i stick to folders that are under 3" just to be safe pretty much everywhere. and of course, no switch/gravity/bali

"Gravity knife" means any

knife has blade which is released from the handle or

sheath thereof by the force of gravity of the application

of centrifugal force which, when released, is locked in

place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other

device. [Note: In NYC, and potentially in other NY

jurisdictions, this definition is construed to apply to

ANY folding knife with a blade that locks open.

wait, what?

Branes....

i think a lot of the legal code that gets tossed around is used once a crime has been perpetrated

meaning that these laws are only enforced once something bad has gone down

ive personally whipped out my izula or strider DB - both are fixed blades - to open boxes and lab supplies in all my ochem labs with no problem

i really dont think the pigs are out to punish, or really even look for people, who have knives unless they use them in an agressive fashion

knives are bad ass though

A gravity knife is a switch blade without a spring :)

NYC is notoriously bad about locking knives, folders and knives in general. Glad I don't live there.

True, but the izula is 2 5/8". It's not a problem until someone makes it a problem, a security guard walking by, or a teacher looking through a window sees you with a knife and makes a report. Most of the time you'd be in the clear, it wouldn't keep me from carrying.

i've seen people get a summons for having a blade in their pocket. a couple years ago when the rumblers had the hot rod show a bunch of dudes were down in the subway getting busted. typical rockabilly/garage steez with a blade clipped to their pocket, they all got stopped, knives confiscated and summons issued.
