This is the new Melbourne Convention Centre, made up of convention and meeting spaces and a huge exhibition hall, it is the first and only ‘6 Star Green Star’ convention centre in the world and is a technological marvel designed with the environment in mind using fresh air, natural light and solar power. The entry-level foyer has an 18-metre-high glass wall façade overlooking the Yarra River.

in front of it, is Polly Woodside, launched in 1885 in Belfast, Ireland by Workman Clark & Co Ltd, one of the largest of the British shipbuilders. The owner was William Woodside, a Belfast ship owner, and the ship was given his wife Marian’s nickname, Polly. The Polly Woodside is a three-masted iron barque. The hull is of riveted wrought iron.

across it is the Mission to Seafarers, it is an international organization which cares for the practical and spiritual welfare of seafarers of all nationalities and faiths. The Melbourne Mission, created in 1905, is a volunteer-managed facility providing a home away from home for approximately 12,000 seafarers visiting the Port of Melbourne annually.
