^ not stupid, the helmet is good to avoid infection from airborne branesploadness after successfully decapitating/skullbashing a zombie.. the other clothing is very slim fitting so zombies cant grab onto you as easily, you dont get caught on stuff when on the run.. the armor and extra protection is most likely a precautionary measure in the event of friendly fire or gun malfunctioning.. the nikes are light, durable, quiet, and fruteswag.

In all zombie apocalypse scenarios, there's never a bridge between the outbreak and full on disaster. Even World War Z doesn't cover that shit -- it's just nearly impossible to logically see zombie infections getting to epidemic proportions. Most likely, shit will be handled like [rec] or something.
